A novel triterpene, 2alpha,3beta,20,23-tetrahydroxyurs-28-oic acid (1), was isolated from the aerial part of Centella asiatica. Its structure was elucidated by spectroscopic methods, including 2D-NMR spectra. It displayed no activity against Hela and A549 cell lines at concentrations of 10 and 30 microg/mL, respectively.

Two acylated oleanane-type triterpene oligoglycosides, chakasaponins V and VI, an aromatic glycoside, chakanoside I, and an acylated flavonol oligoglycoside, chakaflavonoside A, were isolated from the flower buds of Chinese tea plant [Camellia sinensis (L.) O. KUNTZE]. The chemical structures of those new glycosides were elucidated on the basis of chemical and physicochemical evidence.

The title compound, C(31)H(50)O, a tetra-cyclic triterpene, was isolated from Ainsliaea henryi. The mol-ecule contains a three-membered ring, a five-membered ring, which exhibits an envelope conformation, and three six-membered rings, which adopt chair conformations.

Three new dammarane triterpenes, cereotagaloperoxide, cereotagalol A, and cereotagalol B, together with four known dammarane triterpenes, an oleanane triterpene, and 13 known lupane triterpenes were isolated from the hypocotyls and fruits of Ceriops tagal. The structures of 1-3 were characterized on the basis of their spectroscopic data.

Four new triterpene glycosides were isolated from the dried aerial parts of Thalictrum squarrosum (Ranunculaceae). They were designated as squarroside I, being a cycloartane-type glycoside, and squarrosides II, III and IV, being oleanene-type glycosides. Their structures were established by using two dimensional (2D) NMR techniques.
