We demonstrate the manipulation of viscous all-aqueous jets by electrical charging. At sufficiently high voltages, the folding of an uncharged viscous jet is suppressed, and the jet diameter can be adjusted by varying the applied voltage or the fluid flow rates. This inspires new ways to fabricate biocompatible fibers.

In this work we will study the dynamics of a thin layer viscous fluid which is embedded in interior another fluid. The resulting flow can be approximated by means solutions free boundary problem for Stokes equation one unknowns shape curve approximates geometry We also derive yielding thickness This model, that termed as Geometric Free Boundary Problem, derived using matched asymptotic expansio...

The existing viscous and incompressible theory of isothermal sound propagation attenuation in suspensions considers solid particles which are infinitely viscous. We extend the by applying amended Coriolis flowmeter “bubble theory”. Here, drag force is a function both fluid particle Stokes numbers particle-to-fluid ratio dynamic viscosity (Galindo Gerbeth, 1993). Aerosol hydrosol examples presen...

Consider the 3D flow of a viscous Newtonian fluid upon a curved 2D substrate when the fluid film is thin as occurs in many draining, coating and biological flows. We derive a comprehensive model of the dynamics of the film, the model being expressed in terms of the film thickness η and the average lateral velocity ū. Based upon centre manifold theory, we are assured that the model accurately in...

We analyze the influence of pre-stress on the propagation of interfacial waves along the boundary of an incompressible hyperelastic half-space that is in contact with a viscous fluid extending to infinity in the adjoining half-space. One aim is to derive rigorously the incremental boundary conditions at the interface; this derivation is delicate because of the interplay between the Lagrangian a...

There has been a concentrated effort in modeling fluid flow in asphalt pavements, and most of the existing work has been limited to evaluation of directional permeabilities. The effects of other phenomena, such as development of flow-induced pore pressure and viscous shear stress distributions at the pore–solid interfaces, on moisture damage in an asphalt pore structure have not been fully unde...

In purely viscous Newtonian fluids, mechanical mixing of the fluid stream as it moves through an unstructured porous medium controls the long-time dispersion of molecular tracers. In applications ranging from environmental remediation to materials processing, however, particles are transported through porous media in polymer solutions and melts, for which the fluid properties depend on the shea...

Theoretical models for the frequency response of a cantilever beam immersed in a viscous fluid commonly assume that the fluid is unbounded. Experimental measurements show, however, that proximity to a surface can significantly affect the frequency response of a cantilever beam. In this article, we rigorously calculate the effect of a nearby surface on the frequency response of a cantilever beam...

Over the past years, there has been a great impulse in studying the motion of a rigid body. We would like to quote the work of Brenner [2] concerning the steady motion of one or more bodies in a linear viscous liquid in the Stokes approximation as well as Weinberger [18], [19], Serre [16] regarding the fall of a body in an incompressible Navier-Stokes fluid under the action of gravity and Borch...
