Clinical symptoms were dominated by vulvar pruritis evolving over a 6-years period, neglected by the patient. This lesion preferentially affects labia majora. The patient had ulceronecrotic lesion involving right labia majora and extending ...

Vulvar carcinoma is a rare female genital neoplasm. Although numerous molecular defects in vulvar carcinomas have been reported until now, no molecular markers that could be applied in daily clinical work have been identified so far. However, there is emerging evidence that specific mutations and gene expression patterns may be used as diagnostic tools in oncology. In this article we systematic...

It is recognised that a significant number of patients who develop vulvar intra-epithelial neoplasia (VIN), will have had previous genital tract neoplasia. This has resulted in speculation that there may be a common aetiology and, in particular, on the possibility of an infective element. Four such cases from the Vulva Clinic at the Western Infirmary, Glasgow are presented for discussion.

Vulvar cancer is an uncommon tumor and represents 3% 5% of all female genital tract malignancies. Squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) is the most common carcinoma of the vulva. Distant metastasis of recurrent vulvar squamous cell carcinoma is rare and occurs late in the disease process. We report the first case of kidney metastasis from a vulvar squamous cell carcinoma in a 68-year-old Caucasian fema...
OBJECTIVE It is generally recognized that the immune system has an important role in regulating cancer development. Evidence indicating a prognostic role of the immune system in vulvar carcinoma is scarce. This study investigated the presence and prognostic significance of several aspects of the immune system in vulvar squamous carcinoma. METHODS The number of intratumoral CD8(+) and Foxp3(+)...
Purpose: The treatment of vulvar cancer remains surgical; however, as surgical treatment has evolved the surgical morbidity has decreased with the use of minimally invasive technology. Sentinel lymph node biopsy, which has been validated in breast cancer and melanoma, has been similarly investigated in vulvar cancer. This review summarizes the current evidence supporting sentinel lymph node bio...
