The genus of Helichrysum comprises many species which have therapeutical effects and used in folk medicine. H. pallasii is one these species, the region for traditional medicine ornamental purposes. Therefore, optimizing alternative micropropagation protocols tissue culture conditions secondary metabolite production needs attention. effect Thidiazuran (TDZ) combined with Zeatin (ZEA) on shoot r...

Kernels at the ear tip of field grown maize (Zea mays L.) often abort during flowering, resulting in significant yield loss. The objective of this study was to determine if abortion is initiated by an inadequate supply of carbohydrates for growth of ear tip kernels, and/or by a hormonal signal. Field grown maize plants were either unshaded or shaded during flowering to increase kernel abortion....

Hydroxylated cytokinin, 2-methylthio-N6-(4-hydroxy-3-methylbut-2-enyl) adenosine, was found in the tRNA of Azotobacter vinelandii. This cytokinin had the trans configuration, unlike the cis configuration reported for that from other bacteria. Culture-condition-dependent changes in the content of this thiocytokinin and a few other thionucleosides in the tRNA of this bacterium have been observed.

Zeatin O-xylosyltransferase and zeatin O-glucosyltransferase occur in immature embryos of Phaseolus vulgaris and P. lunatus, respectively. Purified preparations of the xylosyltransferase were used as antigen to elicit the formation of antibodies in mice. Hybridoma clones were produced by fusion of mouse spleen cells with myeloma cell line Fox-NY. A clone secreting monoclonal antibody (MAb), XZT...

The effect of plant growth substances (IAA, 2,4-D, zeatin, kinetin, zearalenone) were studied on membrane properties of the cells of embryogenic (E) and non-embryogenic (NE) calli derived from immature inflorescences (inf) or embryos (emb) of winter wheat. Calli initiated from inflorescences show higher permeability. The ion leakage from cells of E calli was higher than from cells of NE calli. ...

The grain weight of wheat is strongly influenced by filling. Polyamines (PA) are involved in regulating plant growth. However, the effects of PA on wheat grain filling and its mechanism of action are unclear. The objective of the present study was to investigate the relationship between PAs and hormones in the regulation of wheat grain filling. Three PAs, spermidine (Spd), spermine (Spm), and p...

The physiological and biochemical bases of seed dormancy in Lolium rigidum (annual ryegrass) are largely unknown, and study of this process is complicated by the outcrossing nature of the species and the strong influence of environment on seed dormancy. In order to identify heritable biochemical factors contributing to seed dormancy in L. rigidum, seeds from a field-collected population were us...
