The most commonly used image magnification techniques are interpolation based: nearest neighbor, bilinear, and bicubic. The drawbacks of these traditional methods are that images magnified by the simple nearest neighbor method often appear “blocky,” while images magnified by linear and cubic interpolations usually appear “blurry.” In this work, a new technique, which improves the performance of...

To enlarge an image, bi-linear interpolation and bi-cubic interpolation are two common and simple methods, but they always generate unacceptable zigzag or blurry results. Some image processing methods are provided to reduce the zigzag or blurry effects by enhancing the edges and textureness or deblurring the images, and some example-based methods used some training high resolution images to pro...

The objective of this work is to define procedures to improve spatial resolution of SRTM data and to evaluate their applicability in the Serra Negra region, in the district of Patrocínio, state of Minas Gerais in Brazil. The region's structure is a result of past tectonic processes that have arched it into a dome shape. Besides the already existing agriculture exploitation, Serra Negra also has...

In monitoring vegetation change and urban planning, the measure and the mapping of the green vegetation over the Earth play an important role. The normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI) is the most popular approach to generate vegetation maps for remote sensing imagery. Unfortunately, the NDVI generates low-resolution vegetation maps. Highresolution imagery, such as IKONOS imagery, can b...

| This paper focuses on the representation and view generation of three dimensional (3-D) scenes. In contrast to existing methods that construct a full 3-D model or those that exploit geometric invariants, our representation consists of dense depth maps at several preselected viewpoints from an image sequence. Furthermore, instead of using multiple calibrated stationary cameras or range scanner...

The spatiotemporal remote sensing images have a significant importance in forest ecological monitoring, carbon management, and other related fields. Spatiotemporal data fusion technology of combines high temporal resolution to address the current limitation single sensors obtaining resolution. This has gained widespread attention recent years. However, models still exhibit some shortcomings dea...

Determining the least m such that one m×m bi-cubic macropatch per quadrilateral offers enough degrees of freedom to construct a smooth surface by local operations regardless of the vertex valences is of fundamental interest; and it is of interest for computer graphics due to the impending ability of GPUs to adaptively evaluate polynomial patches at animation speeds. We constructively show that ...

In this paper we present an automatic fairing algorithm for bicubic B-spline surfaces. The fairing method consists of a knot removal and knot reinsertion step which locally smoothes the surface. The simulated-annealing search strategy is used to search for the global minimum of the fairing measure.

Option price data is often used to infer risk-neutral densities for future prices of an underlying asset. Given the prices of a set of options on the same underlying asset with different strikes and maturities, we propose a nonparametric approach for estimating risk-neutral densities associated with several maturities. Our method uses bicubic splines in order to achieve the desired smoothness f...

This paper presents a physics-based approach to surface reconstruction using an elastically deformable \sheet" model. The model is based on a thin-plate under tension spline which deforms to t visual data according to internal forces stemming from the elastic properties of the surface and external forces which are produced from the data. We employ the nite element method to represent the model ...
