In this paper, a new efficient method is proposed to obtain the transient response of linear or piecewise linear dynamic systems with time delay and periodic coefficients under arbitrary control excitations via Chebyshev polynomial expansion. Since the time domain can be divided into intervals with length equal to the delay period, at each such interval the fundamental solution matrix for the c...

Abstract This research apparatuses an approximate spectral method for the nonlinear time-fractional partial integro-differential equation with a weakly singular kernel (TFPIDE). The main idea of this approach is to set up new Hilbert space that satisfies initial and boundary conditions. collocation applied obtain precise numerical approximation using basis functions based on shifted first-kind ...

in this paper we introduce a type of fractional-order polynomials basedon the classical chebyshev polynomials of the second kind (fcss). also we construct the operationalmatrix of fractional derivative of order $ gamma $ in the caputo for fcss and show that this matrix with the tau method are utilized to reduce the solution of some fractional-order differential equations.

We review and further develop the recently introduced numerical approach [Phys. Rev. Lett. 86, 5031, (2001)] for scattering calculations based on a so called pseudo-time Schrödinger equation, which is in turn a modification of the damped Chebyshev polynomial expansion scheme [J. Chem. Phys. 103, 2903, (1995)]. The method utilizes a special energy-dependent form for the absorbing potential in th...

We discuss Lagrange interpolation on two sets of nodes in two dimensions where the coordinates of the nodes are Chebyshev points having either the same or opposite parity. We use a formula of Xu for Lagrange polynomials to obtain a general interpolation theorem for bivariate polynomials at either set of Chebyshev nodes. An extra term must be added to the interpolation formula to handle all poly...

This paper reviews the notion of interpolation of a smooth function by means of Chebyshev polynomials, and the well-known associated results of spectral accuracy when the function is analytic. The rate of decay of the error is proportional to ρ−N , where ρ is a bound on the elliptical radius of the ellipse in which the function has a holomorphic extension. An additional theorem is provided to c...

In this paper, we study the asymptotics of the discrete Chebyshev polynomials tn(z,N) as the degree grows to infinity. Global asymptotic formulas are obtained as n → ∞, when the ratio of the parameters n/N = c is a constant in the interval (0, 1). Our method is based on a modified version of the Riemann-Hilbert approach first introduced by Deift and Zhou.

‎It is commonly accepted that fractional differential equations play‎ ‎an important role in the explanation of many physical phenomena‎. ‎For‎ ‎this reason we need a reliable and efficient technique for the‎ ‎solution of fractional differential equations‎. ‎This paper deals with‎ ‎the numerical solution of a class of fractional differential‎ ‎equation‎. ‎The fractional derivatives are described...

We describe the construction of a scoring function designed to model the free energy of protein folding. An optimization technique is used to determine the best functional forms of the hydrophobic, residue-residue and hydrogen-bonding components of the potential. The scoring function is expanded by use of Chebyshev polynomials, the coefficients of which are determined by minimizing the score, i...

We consider dimension reduction techniques for the Liouville-von Neumann equation for the evaluation of the expectation values in a mixed quantum system. We describe several existing methods that have appeared in the literature, showing the failure of them when the system is scaled up. We introduce a new method termed DEC (Direct Expectation values via Chebyshev) based on evaluation of a trace ...
