We propose an efective facial features detection method for human–robot interaction (HRI) with indoor mobile robot. In case of human-robot interaction at mobile robot, its vision system has to cope with dificult problems such as pose variations, illumination changes, and complex backgrounds, which problems mainly arise from the movement of mobile robot. In this paper, in order to overcome such ...

This paper describes a silica nanoparticle-modified microfluidic paper-based analytical device (μPAD) with improved color intensity and uniformity for three different enzymatic reactions with clinical relevance (lactate, glucose, and glutamate). The μPADs were produced on a Whatman grade 1 filter paper and using a CO2 laser engraver. Silica nanoparticles modified with 3-aminopropyltriethoxysila...

This paper proposes a new method of color image segmentation considering both global information and local homogeneity. The method applies the mean shift algorithm in the hue and intensity subspace of HSV. The cyclic property of the hue component is also considered in the proposed method. Experiments on natural color images show promising results.

The relationships between the color intensities of polyimide films and the electronic properties of their source materials-aromatic diamines and aromatic tetracarboxylic dianhydrides-are discussed. The arrangement of the diamine moieties in order of color intensity of polyimides shows fairly good agreement with the order of the electron-donating properties of the diamines estimated from 15N NMR...

Correlated electron microscopy and cathodoluminescence (CL) imaging using functionalized nanoparticles is a promising nanoscale probe of biological structure and function. Nanodiamonds (NDs) that contain CL-emitting color centers are particularly well suited for such applications. The intensity of CL emission from NDs is determined by a combination of factors, including particle size, density o...

We have analyzed the properties of the HSV (Hue, Saturation and Value) color space with emphasis on the visual perception of the variation in Hue, Saturation and Intensity values of an image pixel. We extract pixel features by either choosing the Hue or the Intensity as the dominant property based on the Saturation value of a pixel. The feature extraction method has been applied for both image ...

The paper presents a complete methodology for processing sets of data registered by the means of a measurement system providing integrated 3D shape, multispectral color and angular reflectance characteristic. The data comprise of clouds of points representing the shape of the measured object, a set of intensity responses as a function of wavelength of incident light used for color calculation a...

This study was undertaken to develop machine vision-based weed detection technology for outdoor natural lighting conditions. Supervised color image segmentation using a binary-coded genetic algorithm (GA) identifying a region in Hue-Saturation-Intensity (HSI) color space (GAHSI) for outdoor field weed sensing was successfully implemented. Images from two extreme intensity lighting conditions, t...

Recently, a lot of research has been done on the matching of images and their structures. Although the approaches are very different, most methods use some kind of point selection from which descriptors or a hierarchy are derived. We focus here on the methods that are related to the detection of points and regions that can be detected in an affine invariant way. Most of the previous research co...

In color pattern recognition, color channels are normally processed separately and afterward the correlation outputs are combined. This is the definition of multichannel processing. We combine a single-channel method with nonlinear filtering based on nonlinear correlations. These nonlinear correlations yield better discrimination than common matched filtering. The method codes color information...
