In this paper, we explore the self-pinched transport of heavy ions in an inertial confinement fusion reactor chamber environment. The bulk of this work is carried out using a hybrid particle-in-cell code. The initial results show that a neutral flibe pressure of roughly 5–50 mtorr is sufficient to produce a net current capable of confining the ions at small radius (<5 mm). The source and sensit...

We demonstrate an ultrastable CO2 laser trap that provides tight confinement of neutral atoms with negligible optical scattering and minimal laser-noise-induced heating. Using this method, fermionic 6Li atoms are stored in a 0.4 mK deep well with a 1ye trap lifetime of 300 sec, consistent with a background pressure of 10211 Torr. To our knowledge, this is the longest storage time ever achieved ...

We perform molecular dynamics simulations to investigate the shear dynamics of hydration water nanoconfined between two mica surfaces at 1 bar pressure and 298 K. Newtonian plateaus of shear viscosity comparable to the bulk value for different hydration layers D=0.92-2.44 nm are obtained. The origin of this persistent fluidity of the confined aqueous system is found to be closely associated wit...

Accurately assessing and optimizing the implosion performance of inertial confinement fusion capsules is a crucial step to achieving ignition on the NIF. We have applied differential filtering (matched Ross filter pairs) to provide broadband time-integrated absolute x-ray self-emission images of the imploded core of cryogenic layered implosions. This diagnostic measures the temperature- and den...

We present results of theoretical and experimental study collisional relaxation fast electrons energy in gas. The dependence on the gas pressure p electron ε mean pass Λ injected into a being sufficient to spend ionization all their initial has been calculated. It was found that is directly proportional 2 inversely pressure. To sustain glow discharge with electrostatic confinement electrons, sh...

reliable stress-strain behavior of concrete is necessary particularly when a member is subjected to combine bending and axial load and confinement effects should be accounted for. a unified theory for confinement of circular hollow sections is proposed herein, that can be extended to the case of solid and noncircular sections. the main aim of the model is to trace step-by-step the evolution of ...

A pellet enhanced performance (PEP) mode, showing significantly reduced core transport, is regularly obtained after the injection of deeply penetrating lithium pellets into Alcator C-Mod discharges. These transient modes, which typically persist about two energy confinement times, are characterized by a steep pressure gradient (p <; a/5) in the inner third of the plasma, indicating the presence...

Migrating cells can extend their leading edge by forming myosin-driven blebs and F-actin-driven pseudopods. When coerced to migrate in resistive environments, Dictyostelium cells switch from using predominately pseudopods to blebs. Bleb formation has been shown to be chemotactic and can be influenced by the direction of the chemotactic gradient. In this study, we determine the blebbing response...

A pellet enhanced performance (PEP) mode, showing significantly reduced core transport, is regularly obtained after the injection of deeply penetrating lithium pellets into Alcator C-Mod discharges. These transient modes, which typically persist about two energy confinement times, are characterized by a steep pressure gradient (4, <a/5) in the inner third of the plasma, indicating the presence ...

Phytoglycogen nanoparticles (PhG NPs), a single-molecule highly branched polysaccharide, exhibit excellent water retention, due to the abundance of close-packed hydroxyl groups forming hydrogen bonds with water. Here we report lubrication properties adsorbed monolayers PhG NPs acting as boundary lubricants. Using direct surface force measurements, show that hydrated nature NP layer results in i...
