We describe a patient who presented at our epilepsy-monitoring unit with myoclonic jerks, and was diagnosed with juvenile myoclonic epilepsy (JME). Imaging of his brain revealed partial agenesis of the corpus callosum (ACC). We discuss the known genetic basis of both JME and ACC, as well as the role of the corpus callosum (CC) in primary generalized epilepsy. Both JME and ACC are associated wit...

Corpus callosum malformation and dysfunction are increasingly recognized causes of cognitive and behavioral disability. Individuals with agenesis of the corpus callosum (AgCC) offer unique insights regarding the cognitive skills that depend specifically upon callosal connectivity. We examined the impact of AgCC on cognitive inhibition, flexibility, and processing speed using the Color-Word Inte...
OBJECTIVE To ascertain the incidence and clinical implications of agenesis of the corpus callosum (ACC) in spinal open neural tube defects (SONTD). METHODS All cases of SONTD registered at the Spina Bifida Clinic in King Khalid University Hospital, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia between 1995 and 2010 were retrospectively reviewed, and mid-sagittal MRI of the corpus callosum (CC) area was analyzed in ea...
DESCRIPTION Midline developmental abnormalities are usually associated with isolated growth hormone deficiency or multiple pituitary hormone deficiencies due to pituitary transcription factor defects. We describe a casewithmidline defects presenting as corpus callosum agenesis and acromegaly. A 39-year-old male presented with congestive cardiac failure with overt clinical features of acromegaly....
The authors describe a case of split notochord syndrome with a neuroenteric fistula in a newborn presenting with meningitis. Associated anomalies included agenesis of the corpus callosum, short colon, malrotation, epispadias, and an abnormally high bifurcation of the abdominal aorta and inferior vena cava. The embryological mechanisms and etiologic theories are discussed in short.
Twenty children with corpus callosum agenesis or hypoplasia were evaluated under a standardized investigation protocol. Psychomotor retardation, seizures, and craniofacial anomalies were the most prominent findings. There were three cases of chromosomal anomalies, all of them representing trisomy of chromosome 8.
A case of hypothermia and metabolic derangement in a 60-year-old man following a period of status epilepticus is reported. A CT head scan performed subsequently demonstrated agenesis of the corpus callosum. Hypercalcaemia which has not been reported before was a prominent abnormality in the metabolic profile.
