In the title carboxyl-ate-bridged binuclear copper complex, [Cu(2)(C(4)H(5)O(2))(4)(C(5)H(6)N(2))(2)], each Cu(II) ion has a distorted square-based pyramidal environment formed by one N and four O atoms. The asymmetric unit contains two halves of two centrosymmetric mol-ecules, with Cu⋯Cu separations of 2.6498 (8) and 2.6528 (8) Å.

In this paper, the effect of Ni on the formation of Cu6Sn5 and Cu3Sn intermetallics between tin and (Cu,Ni)-substrates has been studied by making use of the thermodynamic assessment of the Sn-Cu-Ni system. The driving forces for the diffusion of the elements in the intermetallic layers were calculated as a function of Ni-content. Assuming constant mobilities of component atoms, the results sugg...

Divalent metal transporter #1 (DMT1) is responsible for intestinal nonheme Fe apical uptake. However, DMT1 appears to have an additional function in Cu transport in intestinal cells. Because the liver has an essential role in body Cu homeostasis, we examined the potential involvement of Cu in the regulation of DMT1 expression and activity in Hep-G2 cells. Cells exposed to 10 microM Cu exhibited...

The CopC protein from Pseudomonas syringae pathovar tomato is expressed as one of four proteins encoded by the operon CopABCD that is responsible for copper resistance. It is a small soluble molecule (10.5 kDa) with a beta-barrel structure and features two distinct copper binding sites, which are highly specific for Cu(I) (K(D) > or = 10(-)(13)) and Cu(II) (K(D) approximately 10(-)(15)). These ...

We identified a Cu-accumulating structure with a dynamic role in intracellular Cu homeostasis. During Zn limitation, Chlamydomonas reinhardtii hyperaccumulates Cu, a process dependent on the nutritional Cu sensor CRR1, but it is functionally Cu deficient. Visualization of intracellular Cu revealed major Cu accumulation sites coincident with electron-dense structures that stained positive for lo...

The title compound, [Cu2(CN)3(C6H18N4)] or [Cu(trien)(CN)Cu(CN)2], where trien is triethyl-ene-tetra-mine, is a mixed-valence complex crystallizing as discrete mol-ecules, with Cu(I) and Cu(II) ions linked by a bridging cyanide group. The Cu(II) ion is in a square-pyramidal coordination environment, with the N atoms of the tetra-dentate trien ligand occupying the basal positions and Cu-N bond l...

from flora of north west of iran, four contrasting species in term of frequency and coverage on heavy metal rich soils were selected to study physiological mechanisms for different tolerance of zn and cu toxicity in a hydroponic culture experiment. for study of zn toxicity, dactylis glomerata and secale monatum and for cu, cichorium intybus and astragalus echinops were selected. a clear differe...

A study was conducted to investigate the effects of feeding inorganic or organic Zn and Cu on the performance and tissue mineral content of chicks. A corn-soybean meal diet without Cu and Zn supplementation, containing 31 mg of Zn/kg of diet and 6.6 mg of Cu/kg of diet, was used as a basal diet. Organic Zn (a chelated Zn proteinate) and organic Cu (a chelated Cu proteinate) were used as organic...

In the title mononuclear copper(II) complex, [Cu(C(13)H(10)ClN(2)O(2))(2)], the Cu(II) ion, lying on an inversion center, is four-coordinated in a trans-CuN(2)O(2) square-planar geometry by two phenolate O and two imino N atoms from two symmetry-related N,O-bidentate Schiff base ligands. The shortest Cu⋯Cu distance is 7.5743 (9) Å. However, there are weak intra-molecular electrostatic inter-act...
