We measure the thermalization dynamics of a lattice Bose gas that is Stark localized by parabolic potential. A non-equilibrium thermal density distribution created quickly removing an optical barrier. The resulting spatio-temporal are resolved using Mardia's $B$ statistic, which sensitive to shape entire distribution. conclude equilibrium achieved for all potential depths we sample, including s...
Non-Hermitian skin effect (NHSE) is a unique feature studied extensively in noninteracting non-Hermitian systems. In this paper, we extend the NHSE originally discovered systems to interacting many-body by investigating an exactly solvable model, i.e., prototypical Lieb-Liniger Bose gas with imaginary vector potential. We show that model can also be solved through Bethe ansatz. By solving ansat...
Quantum Monte Carlo simulations of interacting electrons in solids often use Slater-Jastrow trial wave functions. The Jastrow function takes into account correlations between pairs of electrons. In simulations of solids, it is common to use a Jastrow function which is both homogeneous and isotropic. The use of a homogeneous and isotropic Jastrow factor is questionable in applications to systems...
We review our experimental study on the electron transport in quantum dots, formed in the two-dimensional electron gas in GaAs/AlGaAs heterostructures. Single electron transport with well-resolved zero-dimensional energy levels is described for both single and coupled quantum dots. Effects of microwave irradiation are also studied, and photon assisted tunneling was observed between two discrete...
We report direct measurements of the valley susceptibility, the change of valley population in response to an applied symmetry-breaking strain, in an AlAs two-dimensional electron system. As the two-dimensional density is reduced, the valley susceptibility dramatically increases relative to its band value, reflecting the system's strong electron-electron interaction. The increase has a remarkab...
We conjecture that a two-dimensional anyon system reduces, when confined to a narrow channel, to a one-dimensional bose gas with a repulsive two-body δ-function interaction. We verify this conjecture in first-order perturbation theory near bosons. If the channel width is reduced to zero, the one-dimensional system is fermionic for all anyons other than bosons. To address the impact of electron correlations in the linear and non-linear response regimes of interacting many-electron systems exposed to time-dependent external fields, we study one-dimensional (1D) systems where the interacting problem is solved exactly by exploiting the mapping of the 1D N -electron problem onto an N -dimensional single electron problem. We analyze the performance of the ...
