We study the evolution of stable D-branes of C/Zn and twisted circle theories in the process of closed string tachyon condensation. We interpret the fractional branes in these backgrounds as type II branes wrapping (‘blown up’) cycles, and trace the evolution of the corresponding cycles under tachyon condensation. We also study RG flows of the corresponding N = 2 boundary conformal field theori...
A new framework for exploiting information about the renormalization group (RG) behavior of gravity in a dynamical context is discussed. The Einstein-Hilbert action is RG-improved by replacing Newton’s constant and the cosmological constant by scalar functions in the corresponding Lagrangian density. The position dependence of G and Λ is governed by a RG equation together with an appropriate id...
This paper shows how to introduce predicative adjunction in a dependency grammar inspired from TAG, MTT and RG. The addition of predicative adjunction allows us to obtain a modular surface syntactic grammar, the derivation structures of which can be interpreted as semantic representations.
We present a calculation of the perturbative matching coefficients including mixing with higher dimensional operators for the temporal component of the heavy-light axial current, A4, and the ∆B = 2 operator, OS. For A static, NRQCD 4 , calculations with various RG-improved gauge actions are peformed. Matching coefficients with NRQCD and heavy-clover actions are also compared.
Prior investigations have linked behavioral competencies in primary school to a reduced risk of later drug involvement. In this randomized prevention trial, we sought to quantify the potential early impact of two developmentally inspired universal preventive interventions on the risk of early-onset alcohol, inhalant, tobacco, and illegal drug use through early adolescence. Participants were rec...
D ifferential Galois theory, like the more familiar Galois theory of polynomial equations on which it is modeled, aims to understand solving differential equations by exploiting the symmetry group of the field generated by a complete set of solutions to a given equation. The subject was invented in the late nineteenth century, and by the middle of the twentieth had been recast in modern rigorou...
We analyze the Ising model on a random surface with a boundary magnetic eld using matrix model techniques. We are able to exactly calculate the disk amplitude, boundary magnetization and bulk magnetization in the presence of a boundary eld. The results of these calculations can be interpreted in terms of renormalization group ow induced by the boundary operator. In the continuum limit this RG o...
We analysis the sea quark densities, based on the constituent quark model. To perform a direct fit with available experimental data, the parameterized Inverse Mellin technique is used. The calculation is extended to the NLO approximation for the singlet and non-singlet cases in DIS phenomena. We employ the approach of complete RG improvement(CORGI) where one is forced to identify and resum to a...
Unrenormalizable theories contain infinitely many free parameters. Considering these theories in terms of the Wilsonian renormalization group (RG), we suggest a method for removing this large ambiguity. Our basic assumption is the existence of the maximal ultraviolet cutoff in a cutoff theory, and we require that the theory be so fine-tuned as to reach the maximal cutoff. The theory so obtained...
Luttinger's contributions abound in different parts of many-body physics. Here I review the ones that appear when one uses the Renormalization Group (RG) to study the subject: the Luttinger Liquid, Luttinger's Theorem (on the volume of the Fermi surface) and the Kohn-Luttinger Theorem on the superconducting instability of all metals as one approaches absolute zero.
