In this paper, the free vibration behaviors and flexural sensitivity of atomic force microscope cantilevers with small-scale effects are investigated. To study the small-scale effects on natural frequencies and flexural sensitivity, the consistent couple stress theory is applied. In this theory, the couple stress is assumed skew-symmetric. Unlike the classical beam theory, the new model contain...
in this paper, the capabilities of displacement curvature derived from static response data for finding the location and severity of damage in euler-bernoulli beams are assessed. static response of a beam is obtained using the finite element modeling. in order to reduce the number of measured nodal displacements, the beam deflection is fitted through a polynomial function using a limited number...
In this paper, a comprehensive study is presented on the effect of beam's length, shear deformation and beam's theory on the dynamic modeling of single-link flexible manipulator. At the first step, Euler-Bernoulli beams theory (EBBT) is adopted. According to this model the effect of shear deformation is neglected. So, this model is only reliable for the case of slender beam. When the beam is sh...
An investigation of the beam-beam interaction as a function of transverse separation of colliding proton and antiproton bunches is presented. A mathematical model describing resonant excitation of separated beams is examined. Beam-beam experiments in the Fermilab collider measure beam-beam resonant excitation ~particle losses! at different transverse beam separations in the storage ring. The ex...
We present a construction of an entropy-preserving equivariant surjective map from the d-dimensional critical sandpile model to a certain closed, shift-invariant subgroup of T d (the ‘harmonic model’). A similar map is constructed for the dissipative abelian sandpile model and is used to prove uniqueness and the Bernoulli property of the measure of maximal entropy for that model.
In this study, the computational model is updated using an analytical instead of experimental one. Continuous and discrete parameter models a Euler–Bernoulli beam are constructed analytically computationally. To construct models, Ansys™ software employed, 1-D elements chosen to get finite element cantilever beam. solutions for continuous state-space representation employed. first step, only mas...
Precise measurements of the longitudinal profiles of ion beams with ∼10 ps temporal resolution became available with the help of a Bunch Shape Monitor (BSM) developed and used at the INR. A number of BSMs have been developed, fabricated at the INR and tested with a beam at several laboratories during last 3 years. The upgraded BSM-Bunch Length and Velocity Detector (BLVD)-can measure not only l...
Here, and in a sequel, we invoke the invariant spin field to provide an in–depth study of spin motion at and near low order orbital resonances in a simple model for the effects of vertical betatron motion in a storage ring with Siberian Snakes. This leads to a clear understanding, within the model, of the behaviour of the beam polarisation at and near so–called snake resonances in proton storag...
We study the asymptotic behavior of the Euler-Bernoulli beam which is clamped at one end and free at the other end. We apply a boundary control with memory at the free end of the beam and prove that the “exponential decay” of the memory kernel is a necessary and sufficient condition for the exponential decay of the energy.
