Community ecologists commonly perform multivariate techniques (e.g., ordination, cluster analysis) to assess patterns and gradients of taxonomic variation. A critical requirement for a meaningful statistical analysis is accurate information on the taxa found within an ecological sample. However, oversampling (too many individuals counted per sample) also comes at a cost, particularly for ecolog...

Biodiversity is a function of the number any taxon present, evenness with which taxons are distributed (species or family evenness) and interaction component richness evenness. The present investigation was carried out to study arthropod biodiversity in Horticulture ecosystem at RVS Agricultural College, Thanjavur, India. farm lies between 10.6796° N latitude 78.9194° E longitude an altitude 42...

The feeding diversity of subtidal samples of macroinvertebrates from Ria Formosa was estimated with Shannon Wiener information index and complementary evenness. The results were compared with other commonly used methodologies under the European water framework directive, such as diversity indices, AMBI and ITI. Assuming that in a healthy environment all feeding groups are present, and that no g...

AIM The global spread of woody plants into grasslands is predicted to increase over the coming century. While there is general agreement regarding the anthropogenic causes of this phenomenon, its ecological consequences are less certain. We analyzed how woody vegetation of differing cover affects plant diversity (richness and evenness) and multiple ecosystem functions (multifunctionality) in gl...

In 2009, Blagojević, Matschke & Ziegler established the first tight colored Tverberg theorem. We develop a colored version of our previous results (2008): Evenness and non-trivial lower bounds for the number of colored Tverberg partitions. Both properties follow from similar results on the number of colored Birch partitions.
