Albeit the implicit feedback based recommendation problem— when only the user history is available but there are no ratings—is the most typical setting in real-world applications, it is much less researched than the explicit feedback case. State-of-the-art algorithms that are efficient on the explicit case cannot be automatically transformed to the implicit case if scalability should be maintai...

Input exposure is essential for nonprimary language learning, but the importance of explicit instruction and corrective feedback continues to be debated. If instruction is required, how might it be optimized in terms of its nature and timing? In this study, 65 Spanish-English bilinguals were introduced to Latin through an interactive computer program designed to promote initial learning of them...

Feedback is a type of formative assessment used to inform instruction and advance learning. Feedback serves as a mechanism to connect teaching and learning at the student level. Learners receive feedback, formally or informally, as they engage in learning experiences. Within the Leadership Institute for Teachers, a National Science Foundation funded research project, we are exploring feedback a...

We describe a system for generating accurate tests for bridge faults (with or without feedback) in CMOS ICs. We present the Test Guarantee Theorem, which allows for accurate test generation for feedback bridge faults via topological analysis of the feedbackin uenced region of the faulted circuit (without the need for any post-test veri cation or explicit examination of inversion parity). We des...

An integrated design of switching laws and feedback controllers for uncertain switched nonlinear control-affine systems with an arbitrary number of subsystems is developed. Sufficient conditions for the existence of globally asymptotically stabilizing state feedback laws are derived using the control Lyapunov function approach. Additionally, an explicit rule for constructing switching laws and ...

It is shown that, for neutrally stable discrete-time linear systems subject to actuator saturation, nite gain lp stabilization can be achieved by linear output feedback, for all p 2 (1; 1]. An explicit construction of the corresponding feedback laws is given. The feedback laws constructed also result in a closed-loop system that is globally asymptotically stable, and in an input-to-state estimate.

the research was aimed at finding out the effects of the implementation of writing feedback techniques and students’ writing anxiety on students’ writing ablity. experimental method of 3x2 factorial design was employed in the research. there were three experimental groups of students who were taught by using teacher feedback, peer feedback and the combination of peer and teacher feedback writin...

For quantum systems with high purity, we find all observables that, when continuously monitored, maximize the instantaneous reduction in the average linear entropy. This allows us to obtain all locally optimal feedback protocols with strong feedback, and explicit expressions for the best such protocols for systems of size N < or =4. We also show that for a qutrit the locally optimal protocol is...
