We consider an n-tuple of independent ergodic Markov processes, each of which converges (in the sense of separation distance) at an exponential rate, and obtain a necessary and sufficient condition for the n-tuple to exhibit a separation cutoff. We also provide general bounds on the (asymmetric) window size of the cutoff, and indicate links to classical extreme value theory.

This report involves two cases of extreme dilaceration of the permanent mandibular incisor teeth. A history of trauma sustained to the primary dentition was elicited in each case. Although a relatively rare condition, several reports have been made regarding dilacerated maxillary incisor teeth. Very few case reports could be found involving dilacerated mandibular teeth.

In this paper we obtain a best upper bound for the ratio of the extreme values of positive numbers in terms of the arithmetic-geometric means ratio. This has immediate consequences for condition numbers of matrices and the standard deviation of equiprobable events. It also allows for a refinement of Schwarz’s vector inequality.

We study the extreme singular values of incidence graph matrices, obtaining lower and upper estimates that are asymptotically tight. This analysis is then used for obtaining estimates on the spectral condition number of some weighted graph matrices. A short discussion on possible preconditioning strategies within interior-point methods for network flow problems is also included.

Although, Facio-auriculo-vertebral sequence (FAVS) is a well recognized condition with cranio-facial, ocular and vertebral anomalies, extreme variability of expression is characteristic. Association of cardiac, CNS, lungs, kidneys and limb defects are described. We report a neonatal case with FAVS in association with congenital hypoparathyroidism.

Fat combustion is carried on adequately in rabbits deprived of the liver or brought into a condition of extreme liver insufficiency. Even 24 hours after hepatectomy fat combustion goes on as well as in the normal animal. Evidently the liver plays no essential part in the breaking down of fat.
