Education and support based on family’s needs may reduce anxiety and increase satisfaction of family members of hospitalized patients in Intensive Care Unit (ICU). This study was conducted to determine the effect of educational-supportive intervention on satisfaction of family members. In this quasi-experimental study, 154 participants of family members of hospitalized patients in ICU in ...

— We give a short proof of a conjecture of Lubin concerning certain families of p-adic power series that commute under composition. We prove that if the family is full (large enough), there exists a Lubin-Tate formal group such that all the power series in the family are endomorphisms of this group. The proof uses ramification theory and some p-adic Hodge theory.

MOTIVATION Databases of protein families often exhibit drastically different properties of the protein family space. RESULTS We compared the properties of protein family space as reflected by exhaustive protein family databases and databases with predefined families. We used TRIBES, Protomap, ProDom and COGs as representatives of the exhaustive databases, and Pfam-A and Superfamily as databas...

The genetic power of a Brazilian three-generation family with generalized aggressive periodontitis (GAgP) has been reported. The empirical logarithms of the odds (LOD) score thresholds for genetic linkage analysis of complex diseases proposed by Haines rely on confirmation from independent datasets. This study estimated the power of another large Brazilian family with GAgP for future linkage an...

The aim of this paper is to contribute to Data Analysis by clarifying how concept graphs may be derived from data tables. First it is shown how, by the method of relational scaling, a many-valued data context can be transformed into a power context family. Then it is proved that the concept graphs of a power context family form a lattice which can be described as a subdirect product of speciic ...

This study aimed at examining the interrelation between family functioning and children’s mental health in families with a brain injured parent. The first goal of this study was to investigate the predictive power of family functioning for children’s psychological well-being. Second, differential sub-dimensions of family functioning were examined in respect of their predictive power for childre...

Abstract. Generalizing lifetime distributions is always precious for applied statisticians. In this paper, we introduce a new family of distributions by compounding the Burr XII and power series distributions. The compounding procedure follows the key idea by Adamidis and Loukas (1998) or, more generally, by Chahkandi and Ganjali (2009) and Morais and BarretoSouza (2011). The proposed family in...

Zero-inflated data indicates that the data set contains an excessive number of zeros. The word zero-inflation is used to emphasize that the probability mass at the point zero exceeds than the one allowed under a standard parametric family of discrete distributions. Gupta et al. [1], Murat & Szynal [2], Patil & Shirke [3] have contributed to estimation and testing of the parameters involved in Z...
