The problem of adaptive fault-tolerant control for linear systems with time-varying actuator faults including outage and loss of effectiveness is investigated in this paper. After presenting a time-varying actuator fault model, a novel adaptive observer is designed so that the fault parameter can be estimated fast. Here, the inevitable fault estimation error, as well as the exogenous disturbanc...

This paper reports an investigation of Iddq test coverage of randomly generated test vectors and Iddq fault coverage estimation based on a new testability measure. Experimental results show that Iddq random vectors are as efficient as deterministic vectors, and that the proposed testability measure is capable of accurately estimating fault coverage of Iddq test.

Model based diagnosis and supervision of industrial gas turbines are studied. Monitoring of an industrial gas turbine is important as it gives valuable information for the customer about service performance and process health. The overall objective of the paper is to develop a systematic procedure for modelling and design of a model based diagnosis system, where each step in the process can be ...

To carry out a diagnosis, or detect an abrupt change or fault in dynamic behavior of a studied or supervised system (signal, system or model), on-line or off-line (according to the treated case), it is imperative to develop an installation strategy of a diagnosis tool. In this paper, various techniques of fault detection are presented. The role of hypothesis test as tool for fault presence dete...

Abstract— This paper addresses fault diagnosis for observerbased residual generators for linear discrete-time systems subject to unknown input. The proposed approach is a new method allowing to characterize a class of unknown inputs from which the estimation error is decoupled. This contribution is divided into two parts. The first one concerns the design of the UIO satisfying either an exact d...

Due to the advantages of Fuzzy reasoning Petri-nets(FPN)on uncertain and incomplete information processing. It is a promising technique to solve the complex power system fault-section estimation problem. Therefore, we propose a novel estimation method based on Adaptive Fuzzy Petri Nets (AFPN), in this algorithm, the AFPN is used to build a dynamic fault diagnosis fuzzy reasoning model, where th...

This paper presents some approaches on the new applications in fault estimation, detection and diagnosis emerged from three powerful concepts: theory of distributed parameter systems, applied to large and complex physical processes, artificial intelligence, with its tool adaptive-network-based fuzzy inference and the intelligent wireless ad-hoc sensor networks. Sensor networks have large and su...

An adaptive three-stage Kalman filter, which can track the fault and unknown inputs, is proposed by extending the special linear models of fault and unknown inputs to two general linear models without requirement of matrices ranks. It can be used when the fault and unknown inputs are not perfectly known. In this paper, the detailed stability analysis of the adaptive three-stage Kalman filter, w...

A systematic fault tolerant control (FTC) scheme based on fault estimation for a quadrotor actuator, which integrates normal control, active and passive FTC and fault parking is proposed in this paper. Firstly, an adaptive Thau observer (ATO) is presented to estimate the quadrotor rotor fault magnitudes, and then faults with different magnitudes and time-varying natures are rated into correspon...

Model predictive control (MPC) at each time step minimizes a cost function subject to dynamical constraints to obtain a stabilizing control signal. Further, MPC is one of the few methodologies that can be used to design feedback control for nonlinear dynamical systems taking into consideration of actuator saturations. It can thus serve as a suitable fault tolerant control approach for quad-roto...
