Primary cardiac angiosarcoma is an extremely rare malignant tumor with various clinical presentations but usually in late stage. We report a case presented with bloody pericardial effusion, in which the final diagnosis was confirmed by multiple imaging modalities such as echocardiography, computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging and fluorine-18-fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomogr...

To the Editor: Dermatopathic lymphadenitis (DL) represents a rare benign lymphatic hyperplasia commonly associated with exfoliative or eczematoid dermatitis. DL was also reported to be a potential mimicker of lymphoma.[1] Here, we report the 18F‐fluorodeoxyglucose (18F‐FDG) positron emission tomography/ computer tomography (PET/CT) results and the histological findings of a 40‐year‐old female p...

Primary hepatic lymphoma is extremely rare. Although the utility of fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG)-positron emission tomography (PET) for imaging extranodal lymphoma has been reported, there is very little literature describing its use in primary hepatic lymphoma. This case report demonstrates the effect of FDG-PET/computed tomography (CT) in a case of unifocal primary hepatic lymphoma and its useful...

We report a case of unexpected heterogeneous uptake of gadoxetic acid into a hepatic metastasis in a patient with T-cell lymphoblastic lymphoma that also lacked hypermetabolic characteristics on positron emission (PET)/computed tomography (CT) with [(18)F]fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG). Therefore, in cases of heterogeneous uptake of gadoxetic acid, infiltrative lesions must be considered.

The early response of lung tumours to stereotactic radiotherapy was prospectively evaluated with 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography-computed tomography. Three months after treatment, the maximum standardised uptake value and the tumour diameter fell by 64 and 30%, respectively. This imaging strategy therefore remains under ongoing evaluation with the aim of identifying predicti...

Gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GISTs) are the most common mesenchymal malignancy of the gastrointestinal tract. PET/CT is a common diagnostic tool and is also used for therapy monitoring. GISTs typically show strong (18)F-fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG) uptake. Here we present two cases of GIST with unusually low/negative FDG uptake. FDG negativity does not preclude the diagnosis of a GIST.

Nuclear medicine plays an integral role in the management of differentiated thyroid cancer. This editorial aims to provide a summary of the current role of radionuclide imaging, including whole body iodine scan and fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG)-positron emission tomography (PET), in the diagnostic work-up and follow-up of patients with thyroid cancer.

BACKGROUND It has been shown that plaque uptake of fluorodeoxyglucose is proportional to macrophage density. We tested the hypothesis that arterial thrombosis occurs in areas with high fluorodeoxyglucose uptake and that computed tomography angiography (CTA) can detect thrombi in vessels. METHODS AND RESULTS Twenty New Zealand White rabbits were studied before and after atherosclerosis inducti...

BACKGROUND Acute lung injury occurs in a third of patients with smoke inhalation injury. Its clinical manifestations usually do not appear until 48-72 h after inhalation. Identifying inflammatory changes that occur in pulmonary parenchyma earlier than that could provide insight into the pathogenesis of smoke-induced acute lung injury. Furthermore, noninvasive measurement of such changes might l...
