• Evaluates safety effects of Adaptive Signal Control System (ASCS) on crash frequency. Implements Empirical Bayes (EB) and Fully Bayesian (FB) frameworks. Finds ASCS reduces frequencies for most corridors intersections. Shows that vary with different intersection features. Introduction: can improve both operational benefits at signalized corridors. Methods: This paper develops a series models ...

Ammonia (NH3) emission from animal feeding operations (AFOs) has caused concerns on public health and environmental degradation, such as ecosystem acidification, eutrophication, and formation of PM2.5 fine particles. Current ammonia emission measurement methodologies are accurate and reliable, but time consuming, expensive, and impractical for most facilities. In the present study, an alternati...

There are no accurate data on the diagnostic value of preoperative flexible bronchoscopy (FB) for persistent ground-glass nodule (GGN) of the lung. We evaluated the value of preoperative FB in patients with suspected GGN-type lung cancer. We retrospectively searched a database for subjects who had 'ground-glass opacity', 'non-solid nodule', 'part-solid nodule', or 'sub-solid nodule' on chest co...

Encountering a foreign body (FB) in the kidney is uncommon. Most of the time a FB is introduced externally (violence or accident) or through endourological interventions. An ingested FB reaching the kidneys is extremely rare. This article includes an interesting case of FB, which apparently reached the kidney through the gastrointestinal tract as well as a brief review of the relevant literatur...

Delayed diagnosis of tracheobronchial foreign body (FB) aspiration is not uncommon in children. It occurs when symptoms are underappreciated and/or radiological findings are overlooked. In such cases serious complications can arise, which make the diagnosis and removal of the FB much more difficult. Here, we present a case where FB aspiration was misdiagnosed as asthma after a radio-opaque FB o...

We consider the upper bounds of the finite block length capacity Cn,FB(P ) of the discrete time Gaussian channel with feedback. We prove the refinements of relations Cn(P ) ≤ Cn,FB(P ) ≤ Cn(P ) + 1 2 and Cn(P ) ≤ Cn,FB(P ) ≤ 2Cn(P ), which are given by Cover and Pombra. And we prove the relation C2(P ) ≤ C2,FB(P ) < C2(2P ), which is a partial solution of the conjecture given by Cover.

Foreign body (FB) in the nose is a frequent situation seen generally among children. A variety of objects left in different sites of the nose has been reported in the literature. Insertion of a FB to the nose is generally via the anterior nares. In this report, an unusual entry site for a nasal FB in a neglected trauma patient is presented. FB should be suspected and investigated in children af...
