intracranial lipoma is an uncommon entity. a rare type of tumor in the internal auditory canal (iac) and the cerebellopontine angle (cpa) is lipoma. there are a few case reports in the literature related to intravestibular lipoma. herein, we report a case of lipomas within the cerebellopontine angle and vestibule of the inner ear in a patient with tinnitus and dizziness. the patient was evaluat...

introduction cardiac hydatid cysts are rare and represent less than 2% of all hydatid cases. they can occur as part of a widespread systemic infection or an isolated event. case presentation here, we presented a case of cardiac hydatid cyst in interventricular septum. conclusions the case presented had some findings that suggested the specific diagnosis of hydatid cyst.

Non-invasive functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) has opened a unique window into human and animal brain function, with a spatial resolution of a few millimeters and a temporal resolution of a few seconds. To further improve the current technical limitations of fMRI, various post-processing and data acquisition schemes were developed. Improved fMRI methods include variations of a conven...

Introduction Imaging sequences based upon blood oxygenation level dependent (BOLD) contrast are currently the predominant method for functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) of the brain. BOLD weighted sequences offer both high contrast-to-noise ratio and good temporal resolution. The BOLD signal reflects the total amount of deoxyhemoglobin (dHBO2), and is thus a complex function of cerebra...

The Problem: The analysis of functional Magnetic Resonance Images (fMRI) has been engaging an increasing number of researchers in both neuroand computational sciences. Understanding and demonstrating structural and functional relationships in the human brain is a fascinating and fundamental problem and the analysis of fMRI images could provide one manner to achieve this goal. This new imaging m...

Standard functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) analyses cannot assess the potential of a neuroimaging signature as a biomarker to predict individual vulnerability to major depression (MD). Here, we use machine learning for the first time to address this question. Using a recently identified neural signature of guilt-selective functional disconnection, the classification algorithm was abl...

Functional imaging plays a growing role in the clinical assessment and research investigation of patients with epilepsy. This article reviews the literature on functional MRI (fMRI) investigation of EEG activity, fMRI evaluation of cognitive and motor functions, magnetic resonance spectroscopy (MRS), single photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) and positron emission tomography (PET) in ep...

There are currently two techniques to manipulate brain function non-invasively: transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) and transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS). These brain stimulation techniques work to cause long-term change within the brain. We have been combining noninvasive brain stimulation with functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) to investigate the plasticity of brain...
