After a short introduction, an overview about the Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) GPS, GLONASS and Galileo is given. For each system, a status report is presented and then the three main positioning algorithms: Single Point Positioning, Differential Pseudorange and Carrier Phase Positioning are described. In the Summary, the systems are compared and and outlook is given.

The global positioning system (GPS) provides accurate positioning and timing information useful in many applications. An adaptive lattice predictor for the anti-jamming purpose will be proposed. The adaptive filter is applied here to accurately predict the narrowband waveform based on an effective and computationally efficient stochastic-gradient algorithm. Simulation results show that our prop...

Abstract: Commercial vehicle operation (CVO) has been a popular application of intelligent transportation systems. Location determination and route tracing of an on-board unit (OBU) in a vehicle is an important capability for CVO. However, large location errors from global positioning system (GPS) receivers may occur in cities that shield GPS signals. Therefore, a highly efficient mobile positi...

Global Positioning System (GPS) has been widely used for precise positioning and navigation and it has also been increasingly used as a data source for Geographic Information System (GIS). This paper describes the concepts of integrating GPS, GIS and wireless communication for the development of a mobile equipment management system. Such a system could result in considerable operational cost sa...

A differential global positioning system (DGPS) is one of the most widely used augmentation systems for a low-cost L1 (1575.42 MHz) single-frequency GPS receiver. The positioning accuracy of a low-cost GPS receiver decreases because of the spatial decorrelation between the reference station (RS) of the DGPS and the users. Hence, a network real-time kinematic (RTK) solution is used to reduce the...

In 1993, the Space Shuttle Program selected an off-the-shelf Global Positioning System (GPS) receiver to eventually replace the three Tactical Air Navigation units on each space shuttle orbiter. A proven, large production base GPS receiver was believed to be the key to reducing integration, certification, and maintenance costs. More GPS software changes, shuttle flight software changes, and fli...

A new concept of a Solar Cell powering with integrated Global Positioning System (GPS) for SWARM (Small World Autonomous Robots for Micro-manipulation) is proposed. The main idea is to use a projector to transfer energy and to provide global positioning information to the robots that are equipped with photodiodes on their top. We project a white image showed a scavenged power of 100 to 200 watt...
