OBJECTIVE To characterize and evaluate hematopoietic colony-stimulating factor (CSF) use, including cost implications, in US academic health centers. DESIGN An observational study of patients who received granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (G-CSF) or granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor (GM-CSF) from September 1 to October 15, 1993. SETTING Thirty academic health centers in t...

Neutropenia is common in the practice of both primary care physicians and sub-speciality. Congenital neutropenia are rare diseases; they can be isolated independent diseases accompany a number other inborn errors immunity. The clinical course range from asymptomatic patients with mild to life-threatening infections cases severe neutropenia. Treatment congenital remains discutable this day. most...

Maitake beta-glucan (MBG) is an extract from the fruit body of the Grifola frondosa mushroom that is being widely used to treat cancer in Asia. We have previously reported that MBG enhances mouse bone marrow cell (BMC) hematopoiesis in vitro and protects BMC from doxorubicin (DOX) toxicity. In the current study, we investigated the ability of MBG to enhance hematopoiesis and to reduce the toxic...

The use of colony-stimulating factors became an autonomous approach in complex supportive care blood tumors. By indications granulocyte factor (G-CSF) it is possible to reduce neutropenic period, perform optimal timing therapy, decrease a number infection complications. development and active new G-CSF drug formulation – pegfilgrastim do not the duration period significantly, but reduced freque...

The mononuclear phagocyte system, particularly dendritic cells, plays several pivotal roles in the development of multiple sclerosis and its animal model, experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis. Here, we demonstrate that functionally distinct dendritic cell subpopulations are present in the central nervous system during experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis. At peak experimental autoimmu...

Although different types of granulocyte-colony-stimulating factor (G-CSF)-producing carcinomas have been reported, G-CSF-producing esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) is extremely rare. The prognosis of G-CSF-producing esophageal cancer has generally been reported to be very poor. Here, we report three cases of G-CSF-producing SCC who were successfully treated by use of multimodal therapy.

Peripheral blood (PB) CD34+ cells from four commonly used mobilization protocols were studied to compare their phenotype and proliferative capacity with steady-state PB or bone marrow (BM) CD34' cells. Mobilized PB CD34+ cells were collected during hematopoietic recovery after myelosuppressive chemotherapy with or without granulocytemacrophage colony-stimulating factor (GM-CSF) or granulocyte c...

We assessed the capacity of recombinant human granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor (GM-CSF) and multilineage (Multi)-CSF to induce release of granulocyte-CSF (G-CSF) by highly purified peripheral blood monocyte (Mo) preparations. Our results reveal that GM-CSF and Multi-CSF, either alone or in a synergistic concert, activate Mo to transcribe G-CSF messenger (m) RNA and release biolo...

UNLABELLED Background The number of CD34(+) cells mobilized from bone marrow to peripheral blood after administration of granulocyte colony-stimulating factor varies greatly among healthy donors. This fact might be explained, at least in part, by constitutional differences in genes involved in the interactions tethering CD34(+) cells to the bone marrow. DESIGN AND METHODS We analyzed genetic ...
