In this review the need for early antenatal assessment of renal disease is stressed as is the need to follow-up all patients in the puerperium in whom renal dysfunction has been suspected during pregnancy. A variety of renal disorders and their effect on the outcome of pregnancy are discussed.
Hereditary kidney disorders represent significant risk for the development of end stage renal desease (ESRD). Most of them are recognized in childhood, or prenataly particularly those phenotypicaly expressed as anomalies on ultrasound examination (US) during pregnancy. They represent almost 50% of all fetal malformations detected by US (1). Furthermore many of urinary tract malformations are as...
Serum creatinine, urinary creatinine and endogenous creatinine clearance were measured in various age groups in normal subjects and in those suffering from renal disorders. Serum creatinine was found to be significantly high in cases of chronic renal failure and renal hypertension. Serum and urinary creatinine levels in normal subjects were found to vary with the age. (JPMA 31:225, 1981).
Introduction & Objective: Comparative reductase inhibitors, such as simvastatin increase HDL-cholestrol and decrease serum triglyceride and cholesterol. It is widely recognized that statins have organ protective nature and most effective for organ damage progressing. Obstructive uropathy can be used to indicate any obstruction to urinary flow which causes a developing of hydronephrosis, tubul...
Renal diseases have emerged as a critical health problem that has significant impact on human health. One of the most prevalent kidney issues is nephrotoxicity, which happens when body exposed to medicine or toxin. As result kidneys being damaged by major factors such ischemia, hypoxia, antibiotics, chemotherapy, and NSAIDS, condition known acute renal failure can develop. Due high mortality ra...
Abstract Background: Screening for patients at risk of renal scarring is a challenge in children with acute pyelonephritis (APN). Diuretic Tc-99m mercaptoacetyltriglycine (MAG3) scintigraphy with zero time injection of furosemide (MAG3-F0) was observed to display focal parenchymal disorders. The advantages of MAG3 include: lower radiation dose and short duration of the test. The aim of this st...
The kidneys regulate the body’s fluid, electrolyte, and acid-base balances while removing toxic substances from the blood and excreting them in urine. The kidneys also play a significant role in erythropoietin and prostaglandin synthesis, in insulin degradation, and in the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system. Many common disease processes and injuries can interfere with normal renal function. ...
BACKGROUND HIV infection affects all body organs including kidney. Since the frequency of HIV-related renal disorders is unknown in Iran and the number of HIV-infected patients is increasing, this study was conducted for the first time in Iran to assess the frequency of electrolyte imbalance, renal failure, and proteinuria among HIV-infected patients. METHODS Between April and December 2005, ...
On the assumption that increased urinary lysozyme concentration (;lysozymuria') indicates tubular proteinuria and therefore impaired tubular function, urinary lysozyme has been estimated in acute disorders where transient disturbances of renal function might be expected, in cases diagnosed clinically as extrarenal uraemia, and in a few examples of acute renal disease. Reversible lysozymuria occ...
