HF radar systems are widely and routinely used for the measurement of ocean surface currents and waves. Analysis methods presently in use are based on the assumption of infinite water depth, and may therefore be inadequate close to shore where the radar echo is strongest. In this paper, we treat the situation when the radar echo is returned from ocean waves that interact with the ocean floor. S...

[1] We report the first sub-auroral Pi2 pulsations observations by a SuperDARN type HF radar. The Wallops radar LOS measurements obtained at ionospheric altitudes, 56 magnetic latitude, 23 hour magnetic local time, are shown to be highly correlated with ground magnetic field perturbations obtained at Ottawa. The period of the Pi2 pulsations is 118 s and the m-number is 2.3. The availability of ...

Hf-phosphinoamide cation complexes behave as metal-based frustrated Lewis pairs and bind one or two equivalent of CO2 and in as well can activate CO2 in a bimetallic fashion to give a pseudo-tetrahedral P2CO2 fragment linking two Hf centres.

AIMS Symptoms of anxiety and depression often co-exist with cardiovascular disease, yet little is known about the prospective risk for heart failure (HF) in people with symptoms of depression and anxiety. We aimed to study these prospective associations using self-reported symptoms of anxiety, depression, and mixed symptoms of anxiety and depression (MSAD) in a large population sample. METHOD...

Defects in excitation-contraction coupling have been reported in failing hearts, but little is known about the relationship between these defects and the development of heart failure (HF). We compared the early changes in intracellular Ca(2+) cycling to those that underlie overt pump dysfunction and arrhythmogenesis found later in HF. Laser-scanning confocal microscopy was used to measure Ca(2+...

We develop a general theory to describe a superconducting Fermion system with large quantum fluctuations. The theory is a direct extension of the resonating Hartree-Fock (HF) theory to the Hartree·Bogoliubov case including pair correlations. We start with an exact coherent state representation of a superconducting Fermion system on 'a special orthogonal group. A state with large quantum fluctua...

OBJECTIVE It was the aim of this study to investigate the effects of the right lateral decubitus, left lateral decubitus and supine lying position on P-wave dispersion (PWD) in patients with heart failure (HF). SUBJECTS AND METHODS Seventeen patients with HF whose ejection fraction was <35% were included in the study. Right lateral decubitus, left lateral decubitus and supine electrocardiogra...

In the context of nonlinear scattering, a continuous wave incident onto a nonlinear discrete molecular chain of coupled oscillators can be partially absorbed as a result of a 3-wave resonant interaction that couples two HF-waves of frequencies close to the edge of the Brillouin zone. Hence both nonlinearity and discreteness are necessary for generating this new absorption process which manisfes...

Ultra Wideband (UWB), an impulse carrier waveform, was applied at HF-VHF frequencies to utilize surface wave propagation. Due to the low duty cycle of the pulse, the energy requirements are significantly reduced. UWB involves the propagation of transient pulses rather than continuous waves which makes the system easier to implement, inexpensive and small. The use of surface wave propagation (in...

We present the methodology for correlation analysis of chemical bond operators (CACB) on ab initio wave functions. In CACB the wave function is analyzed in a hierarchy of quantities (charge, bond order, bondbond correlation), where each quantity is the expectation value of an operator related to the statistical covariance of the previous quantity. CACB does not require any preconceived notion o...
