Abstract Funding Acknowledgements Type of funding sources: None. Introduction ECG Holter monitoring is a non-invasive diagnostic procedure that continuously records electrocardiography during 24 hours daily routine. The primary role the nurse to secure electrodes are placed correctly, and advise patient. Purpose aim our study emphasize great importance nurses by involving them into interpretati...

BACKGROUND The objective of this study was to assess the incidence and impact of asymptomatic arrhythmia in patients with highly symptomatic atrial fibrillation (AF) who qualified for radiofrequency (RF) catheter ablation. METHODS AND RESULTS In this prospective study, 114 patients with at least 3 documented AF episodes together with corresponding symptoms and an ineffective trial of at least...

BACKGROUND More than 500,000 men play "gentlemen's" recreational hockey in Canada, but the safety of this exercise has not been studied. Exercising at extremes of intensity has been associated with an increased risk of cardiac events. Our objective was therefore to determine baseline cardiac risk factors among adult recreational hockey players and to measure any cardiac abnormalities they exper...

Background: The Equivital (EQ02) is a multi-parameter telemetric device offering both real-time and/or retrospective, synchronized monitoring of ECG, HR, and HRV, respiration, activity, and temperature. Unlike the Holter, which is the gold standard for continuous ECG measurement, EQO2 continuously monitors ECG via electrodes interwoven in the textile of a wearable belt. Objective: To compare EQ...

BACKGROUND The definitive incorporation of heart rate variability (HRV) as a clinical tool depends on the development of more confident techniques of measurement. The length of the studies is a critical issue. Whereas Holter studies allow the monitorization at different hours and activities, short-term recordings allow the control of environmental conditions. Recording length is also strongly r...

We report the case of a 2.5 month-old infant with cyanotic breath-holding spells, loss of consciousness and seizures. Prolonged asystole up to 70 s despite cardiopulmonary resuscitation was documented by 24 hour Holter monitoring. An epicardial pacemaker was implanted followed by no further loss of consciousness and seizures during spells in a six month follow-up period.

AIMS Rhythm follow-up after catheter ablation of atrial fibrillation (AF ablation) is mainly based on Holter electrocardiogramm (ECG), tele-ECG or on patients symptoms. However, studies using 7-day Holter or tele-ECG follow-up revealed a significant number of asymptomatic recurrences. Thus, the aim of this study was to analyse continuous atrial recordings in pacemaker patients with an incorpora...

Ictal asystole is potentially lethal, and known to originate from the involvement of limbic autonomic regions. Appropriate treatment must include an antiepileptic drug and the implantation of a pacemaker. We report the case of a 54-year-old male with recurrent syncope secondary to ictal asystole triggered by temporal lobe epilepsy. This was confirmed by combined Holter and video-electroencephal...

BACKGROUND Facilities for Holter electrocardiography (ECG) monitoring in many Nigerian hospitals are limited. There are few published works in Nigeria on the use of 24-hour Holter ECG in cardiac arrhythmic evaluation of patients with cardiovascular diseases. OBJECTIVE To study the clinical indications, arrhythmic pattern, and heart rate variability (HRV) among subjects referred for 24-hour Ho...

OBJECTIVE To examine the effect of doubling serum magnesium concentration on the incidence of arrhythmias in patients with suspected acute myocardial infarction. DESIGN Randomised double blind clinical trial. SETTING Coronary care unit of a teaching hospital. PATIENTS Clinical data were collected on 2316 randomised patients with suspected acute myocardial infarction. Holter monitoring was...
