Purpose: To investigate the frequency, localization, and survival of second primary tumors (SPT) oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (OPSCC) depending on human papillomavirus (HPV) status. Methods: We performed a retrospective chart analysis 107 OPSCC patients treated at Zurich University Hospital from 2001 to 2010. Rate localization SPT after an index were stratified according smoking HPV in...

Purpose. Evaluate if human papillomavirus (HPV) infection in lung cancer patients might be helping development by altering p16, p21, and PCNA, key genes involved cell proliferation tumor development. Methods. 63 fresh-frozen (FF) formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded (FFPE) samples from were used to detect HPV PCR, followed genotype through sequencing. The host gene expressions of PCNA quantified qP...

introduction: certain types of human papillomavrus (hpv) are associated with cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (cin) and squamous cell carcinoma (scc). the aim of theobservations reported here was to determine whether the prognosis for invasive cancers of the uterine cervix is related to the type of human papillomavirus asociated with the tumor. material and methods: twenty patients with invas...

Genital infections with human papillomavirus (HPV) are increasingly recognized as a significant source of human disease; HPV is now implicated in up to 90% of cervical carcinomas. Neutralizing antibodies against papillomaviruses recognize conformational epitopes formed when viral capsid proteins assemble into virions or virus-like particles. Immunization with plasmid DNA encoding the major vira...

UNLABELLED High risk human papillomavirus (HPV) infection is the major cause of cervical cancer. Bacterial vaginosis (BV) is considered as the most prevalent vaginal imbalance affecting women of reproductive age. However, the relationship between HPV and BV infection is unclear. This study aimed to assess the prevalence of human papillomavirus (HPV) infection combined with bacterial vaginosis (...

Human papillomavirus (HPV) infection is the most common sexually transmitted infection in men and women in the United States. Most sexually active persons will acquire HPV in their lifetime. Recent data indicate that approximately 79 million persons are currently infected with HPV, and 14 million persons are newly infected each year in the United States.

Human papillomavirus (HPV) is classified into high-risk HPV (HR-HPV) and (LR-HPV) according to their oncogenic potential. These viruses can be found in the cervix, vagina, vulva, anus ENT sphere. infections lead benign or malignant tumors which we could find both LR-HPV HR-HPV genotypes. The objective of this study was investigate genotypes archived tissue samples derived from ear, nose, throat...

Juvenile- and adult-onset laryngeal papillomas were examined for the presence of a human papillomavirus (HPV) genome and capsid antigens. DNA was isolated from a portion of tissue removed for therapeutic purposes, and the presence of a papillomavirus genome was detected by Southern transfer analysis. The viral DNA found in the 12 juvenile-onset and the 8 adult-onset laryngeal papillomas examine...

The genome sequence of human papillomavirus type 20 (HPV-20; family Papillomaviridae, genus Betapapillomavirus, species Betapapillomavirus 1, type 20) was assembled by deep sequencing from nasopharyngeal swabs. The assembled genome is 0.37% divergent over its full length from the single complete genome of HPV-20 in GenBank (U31778). We named the strain HPV-20/Lancaster/2015.

We evaluated a commercialized PCR assay, Linear Array, that detects 37 human papillomavirus (HPV) genotypes, using a sample of liquid cytology specimens (n = 534). We found a strong association of an increasing level of HPV risk (HPV type 16 [HPV16] > HPV18 > other carcinogenic types > noncarcinogenic types > negative specimens) with increasing severities of cytologic interpretations (P(Trend) ...
