In this short paper we present a case study of creating a character using implicit surfaces and developing an animation sequence which brings it to life. We show some problems specific to implicit surfaces and discuss solutions we used to deal with them. Basic knowledge of animation techniques and implicit surfaces terminology is assumed.

To further explore the interaction between the implicit and explicit learning processes in skill acquisition (which have been tackled before, e.g. in [Sun, R., Merrill, E., & Peterson, T. (2001). From implicit skill to explicit knowledge: A bottom-up model of skill learning. Cognitive Science, 25(2), 203-244; Sun, R., Slusarz, P., & Terry, C. (2005). The interaction of the explicit and the impl...

Implicit knowledge has been proposed to be the substrate of intuition because intuitive judgments resemble implicit processes. We investigated whether the automatically elicited mismatch negativity (MMN) component of the auditory event-related potentials (ERPs) can reflect implicit knowledge and whether this knowledge can be utilized for intuitive sound discrimination. We also determined the se...

The role of implicit learning in skill acquisition and the distinction between implicit and explicit learning have been widely recognized in recent years (see, e.g., Reber 1989, Stanley et al 1989, Willingham et al 1989, Anderson 1993), Although implicit learning has been actively investigated, the complex and multifaceted interaction between the implicit and the explicit and the importance of ...

objectives: cerebral hemispheres functioning have been found to be abnormal in children with asd. the role of lateralization in implicit and explicit motor learning has received little attention in asd researches. the main goal of this study is investigating the differences between two hands implicit and explicit motor learning in children with asd and typical matched group. methods: in the pre...

In the construction industry, project members are conveyor of project knowledge which is, often, not managed properly to be used in future projects. As construction projects are temporary and unique, project members are willing to be recruited once a project is completed. Therefore, poor management of knowledge across construction projects will lead to a considerable amount of knowledge loss; t...

It is commonly held that implicit knowledge expresses itself as fluency. A perceptual clarification task was used to examine the relationship between perceptual processing fluency, subjective familiarity, and grammaticality judgments in a task frequently used to produce implicit knowledge, artificial grammar learning (AGL). Four experiments examined the effects of naturally occurring difference...

Is it possible to discover semantic term relations useful for thesauri without any semantic information? Yes, it is. A recent approach for automatic thesaurus construction is based on explicit linguistic knowledge , i.e. a domain independent parser without any semantic component, and implicit linguistic knowledge contained in large amounts of real world texts. Such texts include implicitly the ...

Implicit learning is nonepisodic learning of complex information in an incidental manner, without awareness of what has been learned. Implicit learning experiments use 3 different stimulus structures (visual, sequence, and function) and 3 different dependent measures or response modalities (conceptual fluency, efficiency, and prediction and control). Implicit learning may require a certain mini...

BACKGROUND Continuous and interconnected processes are a chain of activities that turn the inputs of an organization to its outputs and help achieve partial and overall goals of the organization. These activates are carried out by two types of knowledge in the organization called explicit and implicit knowledge. Among these, implicit knowledge is the knowledge that controls a major part of the ...
