We present ongoing work in linguistic processing of hashtags in Twitter text, with the goal of supplying normalized hashtag content to be used in more complex natural language processing (NLP) tasks. Hashtags represent collectively shared topic designators with considerable surface variation that can hamper semantic interpretation. Our normalization scripts allow for the lexical consolidation a...

The use of digital image analysis in architectural photogrammetry allows the automation of monotonous low-level tasks and makes the interpretation of facades much easier. Different segmentation methods for a computer assisted mapping of joint contours are discussed. Exemplary the application of the watershed transform is described and a combined watershedmethod will be presented, which is well ...

The on-going EU funded project Prometheus (FP7-214901) aims at establishing a general framework which links fundamental sensing tasks to automated cognition processes enabling interpretation and short-term prediction of individual and collective human behaviours in unrestricted environments as well as complex human interactions. To achieve the aforementioned goals, the Prometheus consortium wor...

We present a method for junction detection and semantic interpretation that uses an image and a set of extracted lines as input data. A uniied model is used to work on both tasks. The model allows the handling of ambiguous information in images. Our method is fast since we do only evaluate 1D parts of the image.

The design of functional neuroimaging studies investigating the neural changes that support treatment-based recovery of targeted language functions in acquired aphasia faces a number of challenges. In this paper, we discuss these challenges and focus on experimental tasks and experimental designs that can be used to address the challenges, facilitate the interpretation of results and promote in...

Many methods are available for computing semantic similarity between individual words, but certain NLP tasks require the comparison of word pairs. This paper presents a kernel-based framework for application to relational reasoning tasks of this kind. The model presented here combines information about two distinct types of word pair similarity: lexical similarity and relational similarity. We ...

The state of the art of today's drawing conversion systems is described. It reveals a cons~derable amount of interactive assistance especially on complex pattern recognition and interpretation tasks. The difficulties and the major problems are picked up and reasons and solution approaches are stated.

BACKGROUND Cognitive bias modification (CBM) protocols have been developed to help establish the causal role of biased cognitive processing in maintaining psychopathology and have demonstrated therapeutic benefits in a range of disorders. The current study evaluated a cognitive bias modification training paradigm designed to target interpretation biases (CBM-I) associated with obsessive compuls...

INTRODUCTION It is well established that autistic spectrum disorder is linked to difficulties with mentalising, but the ways in which this affects everyday behaviour is less well understood. This study explored the nature and extent of difficulties in everyday social functioning in adults with Asperger's syndrome (AS), since increased understanding can enhance the development of more effective ...
