The well-recognized association of congenital cardiac disease with asplenia has been termed "bilateral right-sidedness" or dextro-isomerism, since the spleen is absent, the liver is symmetrical, and each lung has three lobes and an epiarterial bronchus. In a study of pathological material from 12 patients with congenital cardiac disease associated with multiple spleens (as contrasted to accesso...

The conformational isomerism and stereoelectronic interactions present in 2'-haloflavonols were computationally analyzed. On the basis of the quantum theory of atoms in molecules (QTAIM) and natural bond orbital (NBO) analysis, the conformer stabilities of 2'-haloflavonols were found to be dictated mainly by a C=O···H-O intramolecular hydrogen bond, but an unusual C-F···H-O hydrogen-bond and in...

The title compound C(8)H(15)N(3)S has two mol-ecules in the asymmetric unit in which cis-trans isomerism is exhibited around the N(NH)C=S bonds. The cyclo-hexyl rings in both mol-ecules adopt a chair conformation. In the crystal, N-H⋯S hydrogen bonding produces dimers, which are inter-connected through further N-H⋯S hydrogen bonds, forming chains along the b-axis direction.

The structure and dynamic behaviour of monomeric lead(ii) dithiolate Pb(SCH(2)CH(2)NMe(2))(2) are studied by multi-nuclear NMR, IR and Raman spectroscopy in solution, as well as variable-temperature Raman spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction analysis in the solid-state, revealing an unusual dynamic "flip-flop" process in solution and reversible conformational isomerism of the chelated five-member...

Diphospho-myo-inositol phosphates (PP-InsP5 and bis-PP-InsP4) were isolated from Dictyostelium in order to clarify the precise positional isomerism by two-dimensional 1H/31P-NMR analysis. The diphosphorylated inositol phosphates are 4-PP-Ins(1,2,3,5,6)P5 and 4,5-bis-PP-Ins(1,2,3,6)P4 or their corresponding enantiomers. The vicinal arrangement of the diphospho groups with its steric and electros...

Total anomalous systemic venous return is a very rare anomaly, where vena cava inferior, vena cava superior, and coronary sinus drain into left atrium. Two-day-old male baby was admitted with cyanosis and tachypnea after the birth. Left atrial isomerism with anomalous systemic venous drainage was found on echocardiographic examination. We present an unusual case of total anomalous systemic veno...

Complex cyanotic congenital heart diseases with left isomerism are sometimes associated with atrioventricular nodal conduction disturbances that may need permanent pacing. Surgical palliation in such anatomy connecting the superior vena cava to the pulmonary artery precludes a transvenous access for an endocardial pacing lead to the ventricles. Epicardial leads in these patients fail if the pac...
