Coherent Rayleigh-Brillouin scattering (CRBS) in krypton at room temperature and moderate pressure has been studied experimentally. The experimental data is in good agreement with the theoretical lineshape developed by the authors. In this paper, we describe the details of the experiment. We also discuss the application of coherent Rayleigh-Brillouin scattering in gas diagnostics.
A comparative study of the relative efficacy of the krypton and argon lasers in the treatment of disc new vessels in diabetic retinopathy was made. Resolution of the disc new vessels was achieved in both instances. There were clinical differences in the use and effects of the 2 lasers.
The present study aimed to evaluate the efficacy of krypton laser photodynamic therapy (PDT) with PsD-007 for the treatment of oral mucosa dysplasia in 9,10-dimethyl-1,2-benzanthracene (DMBA)-treated hamsters. A DMBA-induced hamster cheek pouch model of precancerous lesions was created and the resultant 25 hamsters were divided into five groups. The right side was treated with PDT and the left ...
The beta-decay of Kr is a significant radioactive background for experiments that use liquified noble gases to search for dark matter and measure the low-energy solar neutrino flux. While there are several proposed methods for reducing Kr levels in these experiments, an independent technique is needed for measuring very low Kr levels. By selectively exciting Kr atoms to a metastable state, capt...
Hybrid inference systems are an important way to address the fact that intelligent systems have muiltifaceted rep-resentational and reasoning competence. KRYPTON is an experimental prototype that competently handles both terminological and assertional knowledge; these two kinds of information are tightly linked by having sentences in an assertional component be formed using structured complex p...
To understand the optical properties of atoms in solid state matrices, the absorption, excitation, and emission spectra of rubidium doped thin-films of argon, krypton, and xenon were investigated in detail. A two-dimensional spectral analysis extends earlier reports on the excitation and emission properties of rubidium in rare-gas hosts. We found that the doped crystals of krypton and xenon exh...
The Coulomb explosion of K-shell ionized krypton clusters with an average size N of 160 has been studied by electron-multiple-ion-coincidence measurements in which the time-of-flight (TOF) of ions was measured by using a position sensitive detector. The authors have sorted the TOF spectra by the number of coincidence ion signals, Ncoin, and found that singly charged fragment ions such as Kr+, K...
Tunable coherent radiation was produced at 35.5 nm by seventh-harmonic conversion of 248-nm radiation from a krypton fluoride excimer laser. The nonlinear interaction took place at the intersection of the laser focus and a pulsed, supersonic helium gas jet. Third- and fifth-harmonic generation produced coherent outputs at 83 and 50 nm in both helium and xenon gas jets.
We present successful (81)Kr-Kr radiometric dating of ancient polar ice. Krypton was extracted from the air bubbles in four ∼350-kg polar ice samples from Taylor Glacier in the McMurdo Dry Valleys, Antarctica, and dated using Atom Trap Trace Analysis (ATTA). The (81)Kr radiometric ages agree with independent age estimates obtained from stratigraphic dating techniques with a mean absolute age of...
Brunescent lenses and normal human lenses more than 70 years old exhibit red fluorescence due to a fluorophor with emission maximum at 672 nm under excitation by the 647.1 nm line of krypton ion laser. The properties and mode of occurrence of this fluorophor suggest that its formation is highly pertinent to senile nuclear pathology.
