We consider here the so called s-Carleson measures with additive logarithmic terms in the unit disc, when 0 < s < 1 and we give many equivalent definitions. As applications, we characterize the pointwise multipliers on Qs and on its logarithmic counterpart Qs,log. Boundedness of the Cesaro operator on Qs and from Qs,log to Qs is considered as well.

We construct a model in which the cosmological constant is canceled from the gravitational equations of motion. Our model relies on two key ingredients: a nonlocal constraint on the action, which forces the spacetime average of the Lagrangian density to vanish, and a dynamical way for this condition to be satisfied classically with arbitrary matter content. We implement the former condition wit...

Two old conjectures from problem sections, one of which from SIAM Review, concern the question of finding distributions that maximize P(Sn ≤ t), where Sn is the sum of i.i.d. random variables X1, . . . , Xn on the interval [0, 1], satisfying E [X1] = m. In this paper a Lagrange multiplier technique is applied to this problem, yielding necessary conditions for distributions to be extremal, for a...

We give a new description of the set M(F s p,q ) of all pointwise multipliers of the TriebelLizorkin spaces F s p,q in those cases, where they consist of, possibly unbounded, functions. 1991 Mathematics Subject Classification: 46E35.

This paper describes a system for the animation of fracturing of brittle objects. The system combines rigid body simulation methods with a constraint-based model to animate fracturing of arbitrary polyhedral shaped objects under impact. The objects are represented as sets of masses, where each two masses are connected via a distance-preserving linear constraint. Lagrange multipliers are used to...

We examine whether the self interaction correction method by Harrison, which does not introduce the spherical single particle density approximation to energy functional, can be applied to Na clusters. We show that it does not work well, especially, for large clusters, though it works well for atomic systems. We suggest that it is better to apply this method only to the Hartree term. We also sho...

in this paper, we have proposed a new iterative method for finding the solution of ordinary differential equations of the first order. in this method we have extended the idea of variational iteration method by changing the general lagrange multiplier which is defined in the context of the variational iteration method.this causes the convergent rate of the method increased compared with the var...

Using Lagrange’s multiplier rule, we find upper and lower bounds of the energy of a bipartite graph G, in terms of the number of vertices, edges and the spectral moment of fourth order. Moreover, the upper bound is attained in a graph G if and only if G is the graph of a symmetric balanced incomplete block design (BIBD). Also, we determine the graphs for which the lower bound is sharp.  2003 E...

In this paper we introduce a variant of the three-field formulation where we use only two sets of variables. Considering, to fix the ideas, the homogeneous Dirichlet problem for −∆u = g in Ω, our variables are i) an approximation ψh of u on the skeleton (the union of the interfaces of the sub-domains) on an independent grid (that could often be uniform), and ii) the approximations uh of u in ea...
