How do we measure the ”size” of a set in IR? Let’s start with the simplest ones: intervals. Obviously, the natural candidate for a measure of an interval is its length, which is used frequently in differentiation and integration. For any bounded interval I (open, closed, half-open) with endpoints a and b (a ≤ b), the length of I is defined by `(I) = b − a. Of course, the length of any unbounded...

Properties of the Lebesgue function for Lagrange interpolation on equidistant nodes are investigated. It is proved that the Lebesgue function can be formulated both in terms of a hypergeometric function 2F1 and Jacobi polynomials. Moreover an integral expression of the Lebesgue function is also obtained. Finally, the asymptotic behavior of the Lebesgue constant is studied.

Statistics requires consideration of the “ideal estimates” defined through the posterior mean of fractional powers of finite measures. In this paper we study L1= , the linear space spanned by th power of finite measures, 2 (0; 1). It is shown that L1= generalizes the Lebesgue function space L1= ( ), and shares most of its important properties: It is a uniformly convex (hence reflexive) Banach s...

Minkowski type inequalities for the seminormed fuzzy integrals on abstract spaces are studied in a rather general form. Also related inequalities to Minkowski type inequality for the seminormed fuzzy integrals on abstract spaces are studied. Several examples are given to illustrate the validity of theorems. Some results on Chebyshev and Minkowski type inequalities are obtained.

In this paper, quadratic rules for obtaining approximate solution of definite integrals as well as single and double integrals using spline quasi-interpolants will be illustrated. The method is applied to a few test examples to illustrate the accuracy and the implementation of the method.

We study Lebesgue and Atsuji spaces within subsystems of second order arithmetic. The former spaces are those such that every open covering has a Lebesgue number, while the latter are those such that every continuous function defined on them is uniformly continuous. The main results we obtain are the following: the statement “every compact space is Lebesgue” is equivalent to WKL0; the statement...

‎in this paper, we formulate the fourth order sturm-liouville problem (fslp) as a lie group matrix differential equation. by solving this ma- trix differential equation by lie group magnus expansion, we compute the eigenvalues of the fslp. the magnus expansion is an infinite series of multiple integrals of lie brackets. the approximation is, in fact, the truncation of magnus expansion and a gauss...

for many physical systems like vehicles, acceleration can be easily measured for the respective states. however, the outputs are usually affected by stochastic noise disturbance. the mentioned systems are often sensitive to noise and structural uncertainties. furthermore, it is very difficult to estimate the multiple integrals of the signal, acceleration to velocity and velocity to position. in...

The Lebesgue constant is a valuable numerical instrument for linear interpolation because it provides a measure of how close the interpolant of a function is to the best polynomial approximant of the function. Moreover, if the interpolant is computed by using the Lagrange basis, then the Lebesgue constant also expresses the conditioning of the interpolation problem. In addition, many publicatio...
