Since carrier doping of two-leg spin ladders can theoretically induce a superconductive state, investigation of such systems is of great use in the study of superconductivity. In this paper, we report the successful creation of a non-magnetic impurity doped into a two-leg molecular spin ladder and the characterization of its magnetic properties.

We determine the leading low-energy fall-off of the integrated density of states of a magnetic Schrödinger operator with repulsive Poissonian random potential in case its single impurity potential has a slow anisotropic decay at infinity. This so-called magnetic Lifshits tail is shown to coincide with the one of the corresponding classical integrated density of states.

In the presence of a magnetic impurity the spin-up and down band states are modified differently by the impurity. If the multi-electron scalar product (MESP) between the occupied spin-up and down states approaches zero then this defines an orthogonality catastrophe. In the present paper the MESP is investigated for the FAIR (Friedel Artificial Iserted Resonance) solution for a Friedel-Anderson ...

The ordinary single channel Kondo model consists of one or more spin 1/2 local moments interacting antiferromagnetically with conduction electrons in a metal. This model has provided a paradigm for understanding many phenomena of strongly correlated electronic materials, ranging from the formation of heavy fermion fermi liquids to the mapping to a one-band model in the cuprate superconductors. ...

Conventional superconductors disordered by magnetic impurities demonstrate physical properties that are drastically different from their pristine counterparts. In our previous work [D. Persson et al., Phys. Rev. B 92, 245430 (2015)], we explored the spectral and thermodynamic properties of such systems for two extreme cases: completely random and ferromagnetically aligned impurity magnetic mome...

If a magnetic impurity is introduced into a non-magnetic metallic environment, its spin interacts with the conduction electrons of the host. Below a characteristic temperature TK, this leads due to the Kondo effect to a non-magnetic singlet ground state, where the spin of the magnetic impurity is completely screened [1]. As soon as two or more magnetic impurities are in proximity to each other,...
