The highly dispersed Ni nanoparticles in mesoporous silica were achieved via using polyol as new delivery conveyors and removable carbon templates. The catalyst exhibits excellent coking- and sintering-resistance in dry reforming of methane attributed to the controlled size and location of Ni nanoparticles.

Water-soluble perfluorocyclobutyl (PFCB) aryl ether ionomers bearing sulfonic acid groups in the main chain and phosphonic acid end groups were prepared and used to modify the surfaces of mesoporous carbon materials containing dispersed zirconia nanoparticles. Ionomer surface grafting occurred via phosphonate bonding onto the zirconia particle surfaces.

A simple photo-induced approach is developed for the preparation of COOH functionalized meso-macroporous carbon films with tunable pores without using any inorganic mesoporous silica templates, which show excellent sensing selectivity for aniline and the selectivity can be enhanced upon increasing COOH functional groups.

The uniform mesoporous carbon nanoparticles (MCNs) with size below 200 nm and good water dispersibility were successfully synthesized via a combined hydrothermal synthesis and hard templating. The prepared MCNs served as effective carriers for camptothecin which efficiently inhibited the growth of MCF-7 cancer cells after its sustained release therein.

Highly porous N-doped activated carbon monoliths (ACMs) are fabricated by carbonization and physical activation of mesoporous polyacrylonitrile (PAN) monoliths in the presence of CO(2). The monoliths exhibit exceptionally high CO(2) uptake; 5.14 mmol g(-1) at ambient pressure and temperature and 11.51 mmol g(-1) at ambient pressure and 273 K.

Diameter- and interlayer-controlled carbon nitride nanotubes (CNNTs) having nanopores with approximately 6 A diameters are synthesized by our new plasma-assisted growth method on catalysts located inside the organic silica mesoporous templates. Our experiments and first-principles calculations show that hydrogen stored inside nanopores of 6.2 A are attributed to the hydrogen released at 257.24 K.
