In the title complex, [Mn(C(27)H(24)Br(3)N(4)O(3))], the Mn(III) ion is six-coordinated in a distorted octa-hedral environment by three N atoms and three O atoms from the trianion of the hexa-dentate ligand tris-[2-(5-bromo-2-oxidobenzyl-idene-amino)eth-yl]amine. All three N (and O) atoms are cis to each other. The three N and the three O atoms are in a fac conformation among each other.

The title complex, [Mn(3)(C(11)H(6)O(3))(4)(C(5)H(5)N)(6)(H(2)O)(2)]·2H(2)O·2C(5)H(5)N, is a trinuclear mixed oxidation state complex of symmetry. The three Mn atoms are six-coordinated in the shape of distorted octa-hedra, each coordinated with an O(4)N(2) set of donor atoms, where the ligands exhibit mono- and bidentate modes. However, the coordination of the Mn(II) ion located on the inversi...

The polymeric compound, {(C10H9N2)[Mn(C7H3NO4)2].(C10H8N2).6H2O}n, was prepared by the reaction of manganese (II) nitrate with pyridine-2,3-dicarboxylic acid, (py-2,3-dcH2) and 4,4'-bipyridine (4,4'-bipy) in a 1:2:4 molar ratio. The crystal system of the complex is monoclinic with space group P21/n and four molecules per unit cell. The unit cell parameters are: a = 22.2099(15) Å, b = 6.6599(4)...

By means of a multistep synthetic procedure a dimanganese complex has been prepared, in which a N,N'-bridging pyrazolate ligand spans two CpMn(CO)(2) subunits in a highly preorganized chelate arrangement. The Xray crystallographic analyses of the Mn(I)Mn(I) complex K(+)1(-) and of its non-chelate precursor complex elucidate details of the molecular structure, in particular an unusual pyrazolate...

Density functional theory (DFT) calculations are reported for a set of model compounds intended to represent the structure of the Photosystem II (PSII) water oxidising complex (WOC) as determined by the recent 1.9 Å resolution single crystal X-ray diffraction (XRD) study of Umena et al. In contrast with several other theoretical studies addressing this structure, we find that it is not necessar...

A novel method for the rapid extraction and determination of a ppt level of Pb2+ and Cu2+ ions using partial silylated MCM-41 modified by a new salophen and inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectrometry (ICP-AES) is introduced. The preconcentration factor of the method is 500, and the detection limits of Pb2+ and Cu2+ are 335 and 34 ng L(-1), respectively. The time and efficiency of e...

The use of micelles to transpose lipophilic receptors, such as uranyl-salophen complexes, into an aqueous environment is a valuable and versatile tool. Receptor 1 incorporated into CTABr micelles forms a supramolecular system that exhibits excellent binding properties towards fluoride in water, despite the competition of the aqueous medium. To fully evaluate the potential of micellar nanodevice...

The Mn(III) ion in the title complex, [Mn(C(15)H(10)N(3)O)(2)]ClO(4)·H(2)O, is coordinated meridionally by six N atoms from two tridentate N-(8-quinol-yl)pyridine-2-carboxamidate ligands, yielding a distorted octa-hedral coordination geometry. The two ligands are nearly planar and their mean planes are almost perpendicular, with a dihedral angle of 86.7 (2)°.

In the title complex, [Mn(C(36)H(50)N(2)O(2))(CH(3)COO)(H(2)O)]·CH(3)CH(2)OH, the Mn(III) atom is in an octa-hedral environment and is coordinated by the tetra-dentate amine-bis-(phenolate) ligand, a monodentate acetate anion and a water mol-ecule. An ethanol solvent mol-ecule is also found in the asymmetric unit. The structure displays O-H⋯O and C-H⋯O hydrogen bonding.

The photoreductive dissolution of Mn(IV) oxide minerals in sunlit aquatic environments couples the Mn cycle to the oxidation of organic matter and fate of trace elements associated with Mn oxides, but the intrinsic rate and mechanism of mineral dissolution in the absence of organic electron donors is unknown. We investigated the photoreduction of δ-MnO2 nanosheets at pH 6.5 with Na or Ca as the...
