Several models for the pricing of derivative securities in illiquid markets are discussed. A typical type of nonlinear partial differential equations arising from these investigation is studied. The scaling properties of these equations are discussed. Explicit solutions for one of the models are obtained and studied.
Task allocation is an important topic in multiagent and multi-robot teams. In recent years, there has been much research on the use of auction-based methods to provide a distributed approach to task allocation. Team members bid on tasks based on local information, and the allocation is based on these bids. The focus of prior work has been on optimal allocations and has established that auction-...
This paper analyzes the stability of a class of discrete linear multidimensional (MD) systems, whose solutions are path dependent and may not be uniquely specified by initial conditions. Based on the concept of solvable Lie algebra and a new comparison principle, it presents a simple necessary and sufficient condition for exponential stability of the MD systems in terms of the spectral radius o...
Multidimensional Scaling (MDS) is a technique for dimensionality reduction widely used in the field of data-mining. For P2P data networks, it holds the potential to provide an intuitive way to browse and explore heterogeneous data distributed over the system. Current MDS approaches are dependent on a centralized instance (controller) and can therefore not be used in decentralized environments. ...
Version 8 of the SAS® System brings powerful new features for managing a Hybrid OLAP (HOLAP) or Distributed Multidimensional Data environment. The HOLAP component of the SAS/MDDB® Server software enables you to include SAS Multidimensional databases (MDDB), SAS files, and relational (RDBMS) databases into a single, powerful OLAP reporting environment. Support for HOLAP data groups is fully inte...
We present the results of a systematic review of literature devoted to various aspects of elearning success as a multidimensional measure of e-learning success (involving system use by learners, learner satisfaction, learning effectiveness and continuance intention dimensions),a structural model depicting the main determinants of e-learning success dimensions (which we find to be content qualit...
This paper discusses the PROMISE (Predicting User Behavior in Multidimensional Information System Environments) approach, that deploys information about characteristic patterns in the user’s multidimensional data access in order to improve caching algorithms of OLAP systems. The paper motivates this approach by presenting results of an analysis of the user behavior in a real-world OLAP environm...
In the recent past, there has been an increasing interest in multidimensional databases (MDB) and On-line Analytical Processing (OLAP) scenarios. Several multidimensional models have been proposed in the last days. However, very few works have been focused on the area of multidimensional database conceptual modeling. Moreover, they are either conceptual extensions to the classical multidimensio...
A coordinate system free definition of complex structure multidimensional item response theory (MIRT) for dichotomously scored items is presented. The point of view taken emphasizes the possibilities and subtleties of understanding MIRT as a multidimensional extension of the “classical” unidimensional item response theory models. The main theorem of the paper is that every monotonic MIRT model ...
