Farhang Masih Nia,

A 31 year old man, admitted because of acute onset of fever and chills as well as anorexia and weakness. Positive findings included an ejection systolic murmur a W.B.C of 15200 with Eosinophillia;a R.B.B.B. Pattern in E.C.G., a lobulated mass in upper part of the septum in Echocardiogram. Patient underwent cardiac surgery with tricuspid replacement, and diagnosis of Hydatid cyst was confirmed.

The effects of passive head-up tilt on systolic time intervals were assessed in 18 patients with mitral valve prolapse. In addition to causing prolongation of the pre-ejection period and shortening of left ventricular ejection time, this circulatory stress led to progressive shortening of the Q to click interval. In 1 patient, a systolic click became audible which had not been heard in the supi...

Diastolic murmurs associated with the Starr-Edwards mitral prosthesis have not been described previously. In this report, five patients with mitral prostheses are described in whom apical mid-diastolic and presystolic murmurs resulted from two different causes. Three patients had clots obstructing the prosthetic orifice. The other two had normally functioning protheses and moderately severe aor...

murs, singly or in combination, were examined when pregnant as well as when not pregnant. During pregnancy the murmur of aortic regurgitation decreased in intensity or became inaudible in 10 patients, remained unchanged in four, and increased in one. The murmur of mitral regurgitation decreased in intensity or became inaudible in eight patients, became shorter in duration in two, was unchanged ...

We report a patient with ruptured aneurysm of the aortic sinus of Valsalva into the right ventricle, whose heart murmur represented only a diastolic element without aortic regurgitation. Surgery revealed a small opening through myocardium of the ventricular septum without ventricular septal defect. During systole, the opening was constricted and presumably closed with myocardial contraction, an...

Coronary artery fistula is a rare organic heart disease. Its incidence rate is approximately 0.002%. Right coronary artery (RCA)–coronary sinus fistula is rare and most likely accounts for 7% of all coronary artery fistulas (1, 2). Most patients may present with chest pain, palpitations, syncope, and a continuous murmur at the precordium, accompanied by local thrill or a systolic and diastolic ...

We present the case of a five-year-old boy with a caroticoazygous fistula, which is an extremely rare congenital vascular malformation. The patient also had patent ductus arteriosus, a common cause of continuous murmur. The murmur continued despite successful coil embolization of the ductus. Repeated catheter-angiography revealed a large caroticoazygous fistula. The fistula was successfully emb...
