Moving object completion is a process of completing moving object’s missing information based on local structures. Over the past few years, a number of computable algorithms of video completion have been developed, however most of these algorithms are based on the pixel domain. Little theoretical and computational work in video completion is based on the compressed domain. In this paper, a movi...

Within the scope of three-dimensional brain imaging we propose an inter-individual fusion scheme to register functional activations relatively to anatomical cortical structures, the sulci. This approach is local and non-linear. It relies on a statistical sulci shape model accounting for the inter-individual variability of a population of subjects, and providing deformation modes relatively to a...

There is a well-known Bayesian interpretation for function estimation by spline smoothing using a limit of proper normal priors. The limiting prior and the conditional and intrinsic autoregressive priors popular for spatial modelling have a common form, which we call partially informative normal. We derive necessary and sufficient conditions for the propriety of the posterior for this class of ...

• A new method was developed to select among spatial distribution models using 2-steps. The 1st step uses the variance explained by predictive model (10-fold cross validation). 2nd 3 criteria: error based measures, equivalence measures and data integrity. is illustrated 175 marine species distributions (35 x 5. years). approach accessible, clear, multi-criteria universal as it does not depend o...

We present an approach to elastic registration of tomographic brain images which is based on thin plate splines and takes into account landmark errors The inclusion of error information is important in clin ical applications since landmark extraction is always prone to error In comparison to previous work our approach can cope with anisotropic er rors which is signi cantly more realistic than d...

The structural and magnetic properties of Pr-alloyed MnBi (short MnBi-Pr) nanostructures with a range of Pr concentrations are investigated. The nanostructures include thin films having Pr concentrations 0, 2, 3, 5, and 9 at.% and melt-spun ribbons having Pr concentrations 0%, 2%, 4%, and 6%, respectively. Addition of Pr into the MnBi lattice has produced a significant change in the magnetic pr...

We consider elastic registration of medical image data based on thin plate splines using a set of corresponding anatomical point land marks Previous work on this topic has concentrated on using interpola tion schemes Such schemes force the corresponding landmarks to exactly match each other and assume that the landmark positions are known exactly However in real applications the localization of...

population aged > 50 years have renal cysts [5]. Most cysts are benign and asymptomatic. A palpable mass, pain from haemorrhage into the cyst, obstructive symptoms and infections are rare presentations. A simple cyst is a fluid-filled, non-neoplastic lesion; most are unilocular, contain straw-coloured fluid, arise from the cortex and are smooth-walled. On CT they are sharply marginated, round, ...

Performing a craniotomy will cause brain tissue to shift. As a result of the craniotomy, the accuracy of stereotactic localization techniques is reduced unless the brain shift can be accurately measured. If an ultrasound probe is tracked by a 3D optical tracking system, intraoperative ultrasound images acquired through the craniotomy can be compared to pre-operative MRI images to quantify the s...

We describe the Nimrod/O distributed optimization tool and its application to a problem in mechanical design. The problem is to determine the shape for a hole in a thin plate under load that gives optimal life in the presence of flaws. The experiment reveals two distinct design strategies for optimizing this life. Nimrod/O is able to find both of these rapidly due to its inherent parallelism.
