The human intercostal space has been studied by excision of the posterior part of the rib cage at autopsy, followed by fixation, decalcification, section and staining. Injection of India ink was used to simulate local anaesthetic. At a point 7 cm from the midline, the distance from the posterior aspect of the rib to the pleura averaged 8 mm. The intercostal nerve usually comprises a number of s...

In intact urethane-anesthetized rats, plasma growth hormone (GH) levels were low but increased significantly following intravenous injection of chlorpromazine. Plasma GH levels were significantly elevated in rats with hypothalamic cuts such as complete deafferentiation, anterior cut and antero-lateral cut, whereas plasma GH levels in rats with posterior cut or postero-lateral cut were not sig...

Posterior subcapsular cataracts developed in rabbits following injection of docosahexenoic acid. Autoxidation of docosahexenoic acid in rabbit vitreous was demonstrated by the formation of malondialdehyde and vitreous fluorescence. The onset of posterior subcapsular cataract formation was temporally correlated with declining levels of vitreous malondialdehyde.

PURPOSE To assess the impact of an episcleral exoplant on transscleral delivery. METHODS New Zealand White rabbits were given a periocular injection of sodium fluorescein (fluorescein, 376 Da) or an episcleral exoplant loaded with fluorescein. Two types of exoplants were tested: (1) a rigid polyethylene device, impermeable on one side and open to the sclera on the other, that contained compre...

Purpose: Circulatory system is very important because of injection, Blood transfer and centeral venous catheter insertion. The superficial veins, especially the external jugular vein (EJV) are increasingly being utilized for cannulation to conduct diagnostic procedures or intravenous therapies. The anomalous drainage of veins is of great significance for vascular surgeons and reconstructive sur...

Introduction: In the current study we evaluated the incremental value of lateral pelvic lymphoscintigraphy imaging of endometrial or cervical cancer patients who underwent sentinel node mapping. Methods: Operable endometrial and cervical cancer patients without clinical or paraclinical evidence of lymph node involvement were included in the study. The day before surgery the patients were sent ...

Aggressive posterior retinopathy of prematurity (formerly known as fulminate/type II/rush disease) occurs in zone 1 or posterior zone 2. Treatment involves extensive near confluent laser ablation of a large area of avascular retina. Anterior segment ischemia is a rare complication that can occur due to injury to the long posterior ciliary arteries in the horizontal meridians during aggressive p...

The major technical drawback of percutaneous vertebroplasty is the potential for neural compromise from leakage of polymethylmethaorylate into epidural or perivertebral veins. We have combined the procedure of intrathecal injection of contrast medium with vertebroplasty to better delineate spinal canal encroachment during injection when the posterior vertebral wall is compromised by myeloma.

Background Ultrasound-guided injections are an alternative to evaluate, it eliminates the risk of ionizing radiation for both patient and practitioner as fluoroscopic procedures require a radiology technician, increase overall support time cost, decrease accessibility. Objectives The main objective study was compare short-term efficacy posterior inter-apophyseal joint infiltrations under ultras...
