Data concerning frequency of cesarean section as well as frequency of vaginal delivery after cesarean section in Poznań region in years 1990-1991 were presented. During last years we observed significant increase of spontaneous deliveries after cesarean section. The indications for the previous cesarean section and the outcome of the present pregnancy are discussed.
Introduction: The increasing rate of cesarean sections is an important issue globally, especially in developed countries. During the last decade, despite decreasing rates of vaginal delivery attempts after a previous cesarean section, the risk of uterine rupture has remained. Uterine rupture is a significant and catastrophic obstetric complication associated with maternal and fetal morbidity an...
BACKGROUND The association between epidural analgesia for labor and the risk of cesarean section for dystocia remains controversial The authors hypothesized that if epidural analgesia were an important factor in determining cesarean section rates, then obstetricians with higher rates of utilization of epidural analgesia for labor would have higher rates of cesarean section for dystocia. METHO...
OBJECTIVE The risk of perinatal death associated with labor after previous cesarean section appears higher than with a repeated cesarean section. On the other hand, repeated cesarean sections are associated with increased maternal morbidity and mortality from placental pathologic conditions (previa or accreta) on subsequent pregnancies. The study was undertaken to analyze the decision for a tri...
Background & Objective: Nowadays, conventional analgesic agents that are usually used for pain killing after cesarean sections do not provide enough analgesia with infrequent serious side effects. Lidocaine has been suggested as an adjuvant analgesic agent for postoperative pain relief. We designed this randomized double-blind, placebo-controlled study to evaluate the analgesic efficacy of intr...
BACKGROUND The number of incoming expectant women who have previously experienced cesarean section has increased. This work sought to find the frequency and connections between vaginal deliveries, cesarean sections, and iterative cesarean sections from 2004 to 2008. MATERIAL/METHODS In all, 828 women with previous cesarean sections were included. From this group, 8282 vaginal deliveries were ...
OBJECTIVE Numerous studies demonstrate the efficacy of antibiotic prophylaxis for reducing postcesarean section infectious morbidity. The duration of therapy, however, remains controversial. Cost containment measures and the ease of single dosing have led to the introduction of "extended" half-life agents for cesarean-section chemoprophylaxis. We tested the hypothesis that there was no differen...
abstract background: the fear of aspiration of gastric contents and its life‑threatening disadvantages in patients have encouraged many medical practitioners to follow conservative policies for clear fluid/liquid and solid intake from midnight to the time of surgery. these policies have been pursued more severely in case of pregnant women, leading the physicians to follow “nil per os” policy. t...
conclusions higher ods score in females who had c/s showed that c/s could not protect the pelvic organ from pregnancy and delivery trauma. it seems that episiotomy has a protective effect during vd; it can reduce the severity of trauma in pelvic organs during childbearing. results in 30 consecutive females undergoing starr for the treatment of ods, who enrolled in this prospective study, 19 (63...
