The process of joining an electronic marketplace (e-marketplace), and the evaluation of which particular ones offer the most suitable mix of services for a particular business, is not a straightforward undertaking. With a myriad of variants on offer, and with the numerous membership models, features, services, functionality, product types, and technology platforms in existence, it can prove to ...

A cubic polynomial lter is presented for edge preserving noise smoothing. The lter coeecients are adaptable and can be optimized to improve the l-ter result. Experiments show that the image quality achieved with the optimized cubic lter is comparable to that of a more complex rational lter.

Although the multi-channel shopper has recently become a dominant consumer type, firms are still struggling with consciously designing their multi-channel service mix. In this paper, a design method based on QFD (Quality Function Deployment) is introduced and tested for defining eservices that have to function in a multi-channel context. Within a design research perspective, a structured field ...

The issue of web-site quality is tackled from the perspective of the ‘voice of the customer’. Quality function deployment (QFD) is adopted as a framework for identifying web-site qualities demanded by users, which are gathered through a quality workshop. From the workshop an instrument for assessing web-site quality is developed (WebQual) and tested in the domain of UK business schools. The res...

In this article, we propose a technique for improving the image quality of particle-based volume rendering (PBVR). A large-scale unstructured volume dataset often contains multiple sub-volumes, which cannot be ordered by visibility. PBVR can handle this type of volume dataset. Sampling misses often occur when the transfer function undergoes drastic changes, which can result in poor image qualit...

The growing number of biogas plants in Europe has resulted in increased production of nutrient-rich digestate, which has potential as fertiliser on arable land. Many different organic materials can be degraded in the anaerobic digestion process, with most macronutrients and micronutrients retained in the digestate. Depending on the ingoing organic substrate and management of the biogas process,...

Introduction Atherosclerosis is a focal disease of the large and medium sized arteries in areas of disturbed blood flow caused by endothelial injury, dysfunction and local inflammation [1]. Coronary heart disease (CHD) is the most common cause of death in western countries and in developing countries it accounts for over 4.5 million deaths annually [2]. Dyslipidaemia has been identified as a ma...

Color image quality is becoming an increasingly important factor in the consumer imaging industry. Users of imaging devices such as Multi-Function Peripherals (MFP) have increasing expectations to the quality of the reproduced images. In this paper we address the subject of color image quality from a practical point of view, and from the point of view of a provider of imaging technology for con...

Quality Function Deployment (QFD) is typically applied to small subsystems. This paper describes efforts to extend QFD to large scale systems. It links QFD to the system engineering process, the concurrent engineering process, the robust design process, and the costing process. The effect is to generate a tightly linked project management process of high dimensionality which flushes out issues ...
