Where data based decision making is taking over businesses and elite sports, elite soccer is lacking behind. In elite soccer, decisions are still often based on emotions and recent results. As results are, however, dependent on many aspects, the reasons for these results are currently unknown by the elite soccer clubs. In our study, a method is proposed to determine the expected winner of a mat...

Existing security scoring methods are expensive to implement, lack management orientation and are “best practice” based, and thus have only transient meaning. This paper proposes a web application security assessment method based on a security scoring vector (S-vector). The S-vector assessment method would be used by IT administrators to manage security of their web applications. It shares some...

We first provide our derivation of the coordinate-ascent method used in the alternating inference, which searches for the best scoring x and v. The overview of our method is given in Algorithm 1 in the main paper. We now show how to rewrite the scoring function S(x,v) as its quadratic form w.r.t. v. Note that γ(v(y)) = (1− δ)v(y) + δ. So we can write the first term (i.e., the global mask term) ...

Williams et al. (1976) have suggested the use of Guttman scaling for scoring an index of disability. Two examples confirm the applicability of this method in the context of survey research. One of these examples is of a disablement scale widely employed in local authority social services research. For the purpose of survey assessment of disabled populations, the precise choice of scaling method...

We propose a method for using the scoring values of passages to effectively retrieve documents in a Question Answering system. For this, we suggest evaluation function that considers proximity between each question terms in passage. And using this evaluation function , we extract a documents which involves scoring values in the highest collection, as a suitable document for question. The propos...

The method of scoring is developed for the particular applications that arrise in estimating systems of ordinary diierential equations. Particular attention is paid to parametrising the solution set of the diierential system in such a way that the estimation problem is well posed. It is shown that the method of scoring is very appropriate for this application. Numerical results obtained using t...

The current methods of turfgrass evaluations are often based on human-based assessment methods. However, eliminating subjective errors from such evaluations is often impossible. This research compared the accuracy of human-based and digital image processing-based methods for quality assessment of turfgrasses. Four turfgrass plots were evaluated using the two mentioned methods. In the human-base...

SUMMARY A simple heuristic scoring method is described for assigning sequences to known domain types based on BLAST search outputs. The scoring is based on the score distribution of the known domain groups determined from a database versus database comparison and is directly applicable to BLAST output processing.
