Many researches dealt with the problem of induction motors fault detection and diagnosis. The major difficulty is the lack of an accurate model that describes a fault motor. Moreover, experienced engineers are often required to interpret measurement data that are frequently inconclusive. A fuzzy logic approach may help to diagnose induction motor faults. In fact, fuzzy logic is reminiscent of h...

Coarctation of the aorta (CoA) is often considered a relatively simple disease, but long-term outcomes suggest otherwise as life expectancies are decades less than in the average population and substantial morbidity often exists. What follows is an expanded version of collective work conducted by the authors' and numerous collaborators that was presented at the 1st International Conference on C...

A number of U.S. national programs, including space-based detection of ballistic missile launches, envisage putting significant computing power into space. Given sufficient progress in low-power VLSI, multichip-module packaging and liquid-cooling technologies, we will see design of high-performance multiprocessors for individual satellites. In very high speed implementations, performance depend...

Nearly monodisperse cobalt ferrite (CoFe2O4) nanoparticles without any size-selection process have been prepared through an alluring method in an oleylamine/ethanol/water system. Well-defined nanospheres with an average size of 5.5 nm have been synthesized using metal chloride as the law materials and oleic amine as the capping agent, through a general liquid-solid-solution (LSS) process. Magne...

Numerous methods exist for quantifying body composition and body fat mass in companion animals. In a clinical setting, the most widely accepted and practical method of body condition evaluation is condition scoring using visual assessment and palpation (1). All such systems attempt to partition a body composition continuum into a finite number of categories. Currently, 3 main systems exist, all...

H. Weyl has defined a semi-simple algebra (of finite rank) to be an algebra which admits a faithful semi-simple linear representation. Now, algebras are rings with a field of operators; Artin and others have shown that the theory of semi-simple algebras can be generalized to a theory of semi-simple rings (without the field of operators) provided we replace the condition of finite rank by suitab...

This paper provides a simple proof of the mutual incoherence condition (μ < 1 2K−1 ) under which K-sparse signal can be accurately reconstructed from a small number of linear measurements using the orthogonal matching pursuit (OMP) algorithm. Our proof, based on mathematical induction, is built on an observation that the general step of the OMP process is in essence same as the initial step sin...

We investigate crossed products of Cuntz algebras by quasi-free actions of abelian groups. We prove that our algebras are AF-embeddable when actions satisfy a certain condition. We also give a necessary and sufficient condition that our algebras become simple and purely infinite, and consequently our algebras are either purely infinite or AF-embeddable when they are simple.

Congestion on the Internet is an old problem but still a subject of intensive research. The TCP protocol with its AIMD (Additive Increase and Multiplicative Decrease) behavior hides very challenging problems; one of them is to understand the interaction between a large number of users with delayed feedback. This article will focus on two modeling issues of TCP which appeared to be important to ...
