This paper considers the integral-input-to-state stabilization of a class of switched nonlinear systems, which consist of integral-input-to-state stable (IISS) subsystems and subsystems whose continuous states may eventually be unbounded even if integrals of the corresponding inputs are small. In general, a switched controller has two parts: local controllers for subsystems and their switching ...
We consider the automatic determination of application-specific memory subsystems via superoptimization, with the goals of reducing memory access time and of minimizing writes. The latter goal is of concern for memories with limited write endurance. Our subsystems outperform general-purpose memory subsystems in terms of performance, number of writes, or both.
We use Beck’s quasi-additivity of Tsallis entropies for n independent subsystems to show that like the case of n = 2, the entropic index q approaches 1 by increasing system size. Then, we will generalize that concept to correlated subsystems to find that in the case of correlated subsystems, when system size increases, q also approaches a value corresponding to the additive case.
We propose a precise definition of a continuous time dynamical system made up of interacting open subsystems. The interconnections of subsystems are coded by directed graphs. We prove that the appropriate maps of graphs called graph fibrations give rise to maps of dynamical systems. Consequently surjective graph fibrations give rise to invariant subsystems and injective graph fibrations give ri...
In this paper, we study networks of discrete-time linear time-invariant subsystems. Our focus is on situations where subsystems are connected to each other through a time-invariant topology and where there exists a base-station whose aim is to control the subsystems into any desired destinations. However, the base-station can only communicate with some of the subsystems that we refer to as lead...
BACKGROUND Major depressive disorder (MDD) is characterized by alterations in brain function that are identifiable also during the brain's 'resting state'. One functional network that is disrupted in this disorder is the default mode network (DMN), a set of large-scale connected brain regions that oscillate with low-frequency fluctuations and are more active during rest relative to a goal-direc...
Background & Aims: Compliance with standards of designing information systems leads to efficient utilization and ease of use for consumers. In this study, the compliance of the radiology and pathology subsystems of a hospital information system with ISO 9241 section 12 was assessed in selected hospitals affiliated with Kerman University of Medical Sciences, Iran. Methods...
Abstract. The controllability of synchronization is an intriguing question in complex systems, in which hiearchically-organized heterogeneous elements have asymmetric and activity-dependent couplings. In this study, we introduce a simple and effective way to control synchronization in such a complex system by changing the complexity of subsystems. We consider three Stuart-Landau oscillators as ...
To analyze visual scenes, the visual system decomposes the visual scene into features that are processed in parallel by separate subsystems. Certain theories (Treisman, Wolfe) propose that these subsystems function independently before focal attention integrates their output. We describe a new paradigm-the gestalt detection task--that directly assesses the degree of preattentive dependence betw...
