The development of highly efficient As(iii) adsorbents is critical to largely simplify the arsenic treatment process and lower its cost. For the first time, SnO2 nanospheres were demonstrated to possess a highly efficient As(iii) adsorption capability from water in a near neutral pH environment as predicted by the material criterion we recently developed for the selection of highly efficient ar...

Tin oxide (SnO2) thin films are widely used by solgel method. One of the most important factors that influence the sensitivities of sensing material is its structural properties especially surface morphology. In this work, we present preparation and characterization of undoped and antimony-doped tin oxide (Sb: SnO2) thin film nanostructures for gas sensing applications. The films were character...

In this paper mesoporous SnO2 nanospheres with an average diameter of about 83 nm, composed of many tiny primary particles ( 10 nm) and holes, are synthesized on a large scale by a simple hydrothermal route. The as-prepared mesoporous SnO2 nanospheres were uniformly coated with carbon by a further hydrothermal treatment in glucose aqueous solution. As anode materials for lithium-ion batteries, ...

Nanocrystalline SnO2 thin films were successfully prepared using sol-gel dip coating technique. The starting precursor was used as tin chloride dihydrate (SnCl2.2H2O), ethanol and glycerin. As the prepared films were fired at 500 o C. These films were characterized using XRD, FESEM and TEM to known crystal structure, surface morphology and microstructure property. Elemental composition was stud...

Subsolidus phase relationships in the Ga2O3–SnO2–ZnO system were determined at 1250 ◦C using solid state synthesis and X-ray powder diffraction. The two spinels, Zn2SnO4 and ZnGa2O4, formed a complete solid solution. The optical band gap of the spinel varied with composition from 3.6 eV (Zn2SnO4) to 4.7 eV (ZnGa2O4). All samples were white and insulating except those containing Ga-doped ZnO. Th...

Taking SnO2 quantum dots with random orientation as a precursor, NaOH induces self-assembly of SnO2 dots to form the nanowires, side-by-side attachment of which generates hierarchically ordered structures. The multistep oriented attachment mechanism can help to describe the oriented assembly of big nanocrystals.

One-dimensional SnO2-TiO2 composites were prepared via emulsion electrospinning process. The obtained samples were characterized by a series of devices. The results showed that the porous core-shell SnO2-TiO2 photocatalyst exhibited enhanced photocatalytic activity on the degradation of methyl orange (MO). It should be ascribed to the novel structure, which could separate the electrons and hole...

Small-diameter (<5 nm), single-crystalline SnO2 nanorods were synthesized in solution with a mean length of 17 +/- 4 nm (mean aspect ratio of 4:1) with the [001] direction along the major axis. Two characteristic peaks at 576 and 356 cm-1 in the Raman spectrum further confirmed the small crystal size. The SnO2 nanorods exhibit a red emission at 580 nm.

Nanoparticles are widely used in different applications such as cancer cell treatment and antibacterial agents. SnO2 nanoparticles were synthesized successfully by hydrothermal method and subsequent calcination using Tin (II) chloride- dihydrate, Sodium hydroxide, in presence of Hexadecyltrimethylammoniumn bromide (CTAB) as Surfactant. These nanoparticles were characterized by using Fourier tra...
