Proximal interphalangeal joint injuries are common and often can be treated nonsurgically. Some dorsal fracture-dislocations, however, require special attention or surgical management to optimize outcomes. Treatment options for dorsal proximal interphalangeal fracture-dislocations include splinting, percutaneous pinning, fracture fixation, external fixation devices, volar plate arthroplasty, an...
Musculoskeletal injury and diseases are common presentations in the Emergency Department. Emergency physicians must be versed in the critical procedural skills necessary to diagnose joint infection, manage fractures and dislocations, and assess for compartment syndrome. Arthrocentesis, splinting, dislocation reduction, and the evaluation of limb compartment syndrome are reviewed.

This systematic review aims identify pr...
STATEMENT OF PROBLEM Excessive stress on abutment teeth adjacent to a maxillary resection defect during loading of partial denture obturator frameworks may shorten the life of the teeth. PURPOSE The aim of this study was to photoelastically compare the forces exerted on the supporting structures of abutment teeth in 3 differently sized surgical resections with removable partial denture design...
Comparison of a new dental trauma splint device (TTS) with three commonly used splinting techniques.
Splinting is the standard of care for stabilization of replanted or repositioned permanent teeth following trauma. The present experimental study compared four dental trauma splints in 10 volunteers. The evaluated splints included a wire-composite splint (WCS), a button-bracket splint (BS), a resin splint (RS), and a new device (TTS=Titanium Trauma Splint) specifically developed for splinting t...
