Second order optimality conditions have been derived in the literature in two different forms. Osmolovskii (1988a, 1995, 2000, 2004) obtained second order necessary and sufficient conditions requiring that a certain quadratic form be positive (semi)-definite on a critical cone. Agrachev, Stefani, Zezza (2002) first reduced the bang-bang control problem to finite-dimensional optimization and the...

This paper presents sufficient conditions for the existence of stationary optimal policies for averagecost Markov Decision Processes with Borel state and action sets and with weakly continuous transition probabilities. The one-step cost functions may be unbounded, and action sets may be noncompact. The main contributions of this paper are: (i) general sufficient conditions for the existence of ...

An algorithm recently developed by Enkhbat et al. [3] based on continuous relaxation of the quadratic assignment problem generates suboptimal solution of good quality on average giving no sufficient enough verification on global optimality of the generated solution, whereas a branch and bound method provides a solution with verified global optimality, taking on input an upper bound close to glo...

This paper investigates the relationship between the maximum principle with an infinite horizon and dynamic programming and sheds new light upon the role of the transversality condition at infinity as necessary and sufficient conditions for optimality with or without convexity assumptions. We first derive the nonsmooth maximum principle and the adjoint inclusion for the value function as necess...

The vector criterion and set criterion are two defining approaches of solutions for the set-valued optimization problems. In this paper, the optimality conditions of both criteria of solutions are established for the set-valued optimization problems. By using Studniarski derivatives, the necessary and sufficient optimality conditions are derived in the sense of vector and set optimization.

In this paper, we establish a Farkas-Minkowski type alternative theorem under the supposition of nearly semiconvexlike set-valued maps. Based on the alternative theorem and some other lemmas, we present necessary optimality conditions and sufficient optimality conditions for set-valued vector optimization problems with extended inequality constraints in a sense of weak E-minimizers.

In this paper we study nonlinear semidefinite programming problems. Convexity, duality and first-order optimality conditions for such problems are presented. A second-order analysis is also given. Second-order necessary and sufficient optimality conditions are derived. Finally, sensitivity analysis of such programs is discussed. © 1997 The Mathematical Programming Society, Inc. The maximization with respect to a cone of a set-valued function into possibly infinite dimensions is defined, and necessary and sufficient optimality conditions are established. In particular, an analogue of the Fritz John necessary optimality conditions is proved using a notion of derivative defined in terms of tangent cones.

In this paper, we consider nonsmooth multiobjective fractional programming problems involving locally Lipschitz functions. We introduce the property of generalized invexity for fractional function. We present necessary optimality conditions, sufficient optimality conditions and duality relations for nonsmooth multiobjective fractional programming problems, which is for a weakly efficient soluti...

We consider nonconvex quadratic optimization problems with binary constraints. Our main result identifies a class of quadratic problems for which a given feasible point is global optimal. We also establish a necessary global optimality condition. These conditions are expressed in a simple way in terms of the problem’s data. We also study the relations between optimal solutions of the nonconvex ...
