Tellurite TeO2–TiO2–Nb2O5 thin film glasses have been produced by pulsed laser deposition. The dispersion of the real and imaginary parts of the linear refractive index has been measured in the range from 300 to 1700 nm. Films present high refractive index n=2.01 and reduced absorption k 10−4 at =1500 nm. The nonlinear third order optical susceptibility 3 has been determined at four different w...
We report the fabrication of a tellurite optical fiber with a suspended core design, formed on a 220-nm-wide filament of glass. The fiber was pumped at two different wavelengths (1500 and 2400 nm) using femtosecond pulses generated from an optical parametric oscillator (OPO) in order to produce mid-infrared supercontinuum (SC). We observed that SC spectra extending to 3 μm were readily generate...
The tellurium oxyanion tellurite (TeO3 (2-)) is extremely harmful for most organisms. It has been suggested that a potential bacterial tellurite resistance mechanism would consist of an enzymatic, NAD(P)H-dependent, reduction to the less toxic form elemental tellurium (Te(0)). To date, a number of enzymes such as catalase, type II NADH dehydrogenase and terminal oxidases from the electron trans...
In this work the influence of selenite on metal resistance in Escherichia coli was examined. Both synergistic and antagonistic resistance and toxicities were found upon co exposure with selenite. In wild type cells co-exposure to selenite had little effect on arsenic resistance, decreased resistance to cadmium and mercury but led to a dramatically increased resistance to tellurite of 32-fold. D...
BACKGROUND Selenium and Tellurium have many common chemical properties as both belong to group 16 of the periodic table. High toxicities of Se and Te oxyanions cause environmental problems in contaminated soils and waters. Three strains (C4, C6 and C7) of selenite reducing and nanoparticle forming aerobic bacteria which were isolated from agricultural soils of India containing high concentratio...
This paper aims to analyse the research trend of erbium-doped tellurite glasses. To this aim, applied bibliometric analysis. The comprehensive document on topic glasses in Scopus database is 695 documents. result revealed that scientific publication has been increasing. China contributed most documents visualization assisted with VOSviewer software and resulted four primary clusters: (1) red cl...
Abstract Ag NPs embedded in Er 3 +/Nd + codoped lithium niobate tellurite glasses of the form (68- x )TeO 2 -15Li CO -15Nb O 5 -1Er2O3-1Nd2O3-(x)AgCl with = 1, and mol% via conventional melt-quenching technique. Surface roughness mechanical properties glass sample are characterized discussed. The ultrasonic attenuation shows rate sound energy reduction when an wave is propagating a medium which...
Tellurite-based selective growth media are used for several bacterial pathogens. We found that, in Klebsiella pneumoniae, tellurite resistance is strongly associated with hypervirulent clonal group 23 (CG23), CG65, and CG86, providing a novel approach for screening environmental or carriage samples. The terW gene was also associated with these groups.
Tellurite resistance (Te(r)) is widespread in nature and it is shown here that the natural resistance of Proteus mirabilis to tellurite is due to a chromosomally located orthologue of plasmid-borne ter genes found in enteric bacteria. The P. mirabilis ter locus (terZABCDE) was identified in a screen of Tn5lacZ-generated mutants of which one contained an insertion in terC. The P. mirabilis terC ...
