In this paper we present the PC cluster built at R.V. College of Engineering (with great help from the Department of Computer Science and Electrical Engineering). The structure of the cluster is described and the performance is evaluated by rendering of complex 3D Persistence of Vision (POV) images by the Ray-Tracing algorithm. Here, we propose an unexampled method to render such images, distri...
This paper presents a complete ray-tracing based model which takes into account scattering from rough surfaces in indoor environments. The proposed model relies on a combination between computer graphics and radar techniques. The paths between the transmitter and the receiver are found thanks to a Bi-Directional Path-Tracing algorithm, and the scattering field after each interaction between the...
We describe a fully k-resilient traitor tracing scheme that utilizes RSA as a secret-key rather than public-key cryptosystem. Traitor tracing schemes deter piracy in broadcast encryption systems by enabling the identification of authorized users known as traitors that contribute to unauthorized pirate decoders. In the proposed scheme, upon the confiscation of a pirate decoder created by a collu...
We propose a fast algorithm to estimate the flux collected by conic reflector patches, based on the calculation of intersections between neighboring patches. The algorithm can be employed in conjunction with the supporting ellipsoids algorithm for freeform reflector design and is shown to be orders of magnitude faster and more scalable than the commonly used Monte Carlo ray tracing approach.
In this paper we introduce a method of predicting student performance by simply calculating the expected outcome of students with the same sequence or subsequence of responses. This expected outcome, which is simply the percent correct, can be calculated for each response subsequence. The combination of expected outcomes for each subsequence can then be combined for a final prediction of a part...
Distributed Object Systems are known to be very complex. Consequently it is very difficult, if not impossible, to see the overall relationship among participating objects in the system. That complicates the issues connected with performance tuning and maintenance. An economical way to visualize the system is clearly needed. In this paper, we propose a tracing facility for Java-based distributed...
The authors of this paper have developed a series of techniques on automatic function approximation of raster images, including references [3] and [5] that were published in this journal. In our techniques, contours are traced and their shapes are approximated by a combination of functions including straight line, arc, and quadratic curve. Because our previous works targeted mainly bi...
The paper deals with devising the combination of fuzzy inference systems (FIS) and neural networks called the adaptive network fuzzy inference system (ANFIS) to determine the forming limit diagram (FLD). In this paper, FLDs are determined experimentally for two grades of low carbon steel sheets using out-of-plane (dome) formability test. The effect of different parameters such as work hardening...
In this paper we present a new Monte Carlo rendering algorithm that seamlessly integrates the ideas of shooting and gathering power to create photorealistic images. The algorithm can be explained as a generalisation of the well-known path tracing algorithm. Test results show that it performs signiicantly better for typical indoor scenes where indirect lighting is important.
In this paper, we propose a feasible primal-dual path-following algorithm for convex quadratic programs. At each interior-point iteration the algorithm uses a full-Newton step and a suitable proximity measure for tracing approximately the central path.We show that the short-step algorithm has the best known iteration bound, namely O( √ n log (n+1) ).
